"Xbox One controller cost over $100 million to develop, smell-o-vision and built-in projector were considered"

I wonder if these huge costs were shenanigans to get tax breaks through the US's R&D tax credit? Wouldn't be surprised.

One week until I can get the 1520, in theory. Carphone Warehouse promises one day free delivery to your doorstep, and rumor has it that it comes out on the 25th in the UK. We'll see.

Yeah, but the controller isn't a big improvement at all. Seriously though it costed $100 Million to develop it? What did they spend all that money on?

Microsoft Office 2013.

It combines the ribbon bar from Office 2010 with Windows 8's Metro/flat look.

Way more seamless than 2007. And its Skydrive sync is great.

Seems 'bout right.

I did almost all my work, way back when, in Excel 2003/.xls just because of the ribbon. Then everyone switched up to .xlsx and I had to move to Office 2007/2010.

The ribbon is, after all the time I've worked with it, meh (verging on annoying). The flat design is just... hnnnghhhhhh.

You know there's a free available compatability add-on for pre-2007 Offices to use? With minor differences (whether you hit a a deal-breaker or not is dependent on what you do and, moreover, what the 2007+ people do, with the Office documents concerned), it generally works good enough, I find. If they don't mind receiving .doc files back (for all future collaborations), all the easier!

Mind you, at least they didn't do the same this time as they did with the (I think) Word 6.0 compatability module to give compatability to pre-Word 6.0 software, and include the documentation on how to use the update in a Word 6.0 document that the end user couldn't yet open... ;)

The ribbon is, after all the time I've worked with it, meh (verging on annoying). The flat design is just... hnnnghhhhhh.

I'm with you on the Ribbon. Never liked it. Luckily, pre-existing keyboard shortcuts were maintained. Easier to do "Alt-D S" (if I've correctly replicated what my muscle-memory movements automatically are for this function) to access the table-sorting dialogue than work out where on earth the self-same item it is on that actual, dreaded, Ribbon. (I do keep looking, whenever I use Office 2007+, but can never find either it or most of the various other things I might want to use. I admit that I'm probably a stick-in-the-mud, but it always used to be so easy to use such interfaces.)

Unfortunately, people have minded, and minor nuances between .doc and .docx have made people mad because the file I send back doesn't look the same as the one sent forward.

Can you find the "Set Transparent Color" button? It took me a solid 10 minutes before giving up and Googling it, and it's still a trial-and-error process. As pithy as the tool is, it is so, so useful for when I'm putting pictures of things I've done in analysis programs into Word.

It's going to be difficult for me to move from Lenovo for my laptop(s) going forward. Seriously, mSATA slot for the win.
