Same here. I didn't really understand all of it, but the book didn't hurt me either.

Yea my bad. It doesn't really seem like "sex-ed" in the normal sense.

It's not, the title and OP are just reactionary and blatant "I don't wanna read the source and make an accurate delivery!"

All right, sex education in Kindergarten? Great addition to the course of study. Learn to count, read, and where babies come from. Sounds like a plan. Do you think it's a good idea? I find it plainly stupid that we should teach 6-year-olds this stuff. We need to wait a while before we teach them something that they shouldn't (and I say shouldn't for a reason) need to worry about until their adult hood. It should be left the way it is, in middle school/ high school.

Yes, it is a good idea.

The problem is that traditional sex education is shitty. This ultimately is sex education but the stigma attached to it's past execution is pejorative.

My Lord... What kind of idiot put this forward? I didn't know about sex until middle school, and I think that is a good thing! I wouldn't want my daughter to be naive or anything, but kindergarten is far too early to learn about sex, sexual dangers, and things like rape. I am not for overly sensitizing children or anything, but it is far too young in my opinion.

In all seriousness though, there shouldn't be a need for it in school... if only parents would sit down and talk to their fucking brats once in a while. But judging by the reactions in this thread, something so progressive won't be happening at any point soon.

They're learning the names of their genitals and inappropriate places to touch; it's not like they're explaining actual sex or going into detail about sexual assault.

How dare young children know when they're being raped. We must protect their purity for Jesus.
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

Its about teaching what's appropriate touching and things like that, not teaching them how to have sex. Did you read the article?

The innocence of a child is a beautiful thing. Why don't we keep on getting rid of it by telling them the murder rate in the U.S., the number of fatal car accidents per year, that Santa Claus isn't real, that the tooth fairy isn't real, that superheroes aren't real, etc.? (Sarcasm)

Teaching a child the name of their own genitals and where they shouldn't be touched is comparable to murder how?
And a lot of children don't believe in fairies, superheroes, etc. and they're fine.

Ours was in fourth grade, with some political bs thrown in in ninth grade. Kindergarten is a little extreme, but I don't mind it being in primary school.
