I was planning on running it for two days, as it would be around the time that I would be moving back to university. I could, however, delegate to the Alpacka animal.

Unfortunately for my personal request, the Alpaca was the one who ran the thread last year. If you felt you trusted me enough, I could run it myself, but I may also encounter constraints due to my studies. I would be more than willing to create the dual threads needed to use polls. One benefit of automatic timed polls is that once they close, the results are frozen for all to see, so others could still call the winners accurately even if the OP is not around to announce them formally. Proceed as you see fit.

And that would be one of the reasons why when I was running it I opted for automatic timed polls... An argument against using polls for selecting the winners is puppet-wanking, but since this is all just for fun anyway, I never really saw an issue with it.

I think the puppet-wanking issue has been largely exaggerated and overblown. I don't doubt puppets have been used to inflate one's votes, but given the enormous turnout the polls generate, provided they are run for long enough, the cumulative effect of any puppet-wanking is rather negligible. In order to create and manage enough puppets to engage in ballot-stuffing with any degree of effectiveness (i.e. to outweigh the masses of real voters turning out), one must, to put it bluntly, have no life.

Why thank you darlin I hope you and the hubs are doing well. I've been focusing on some IRL aspects like my business, volunteer work, and writing. I'm hoping to conclude at least 1 of the two books I am writing concurrently. They started out as a straight exercise for my own pleasure and have turned into something that might actually be capable of being published. The latter is yet to be seen but if I do make it to the rank of official author I will add a footnote in tribute to both you and Gallo.
