If the US became a monarchy, it would be...

I don't think the US would ever become a monarchy, thinking back that it went to war against a monarchy to get free. But if the US would become a monarchy, it would probably be, the best monarchy in the world. And by best I mean worst. The way the US is acting now, could you imagine the way they would act when they had their own royal family? God, it would be the Great British Empire all over again, only with the Great American Empire, with George W. Bush II.

Indeed, my only involvement here was to present the alternative of Meritocracy, which as far as off-balance hierarchies go, is superior. It's also entirely congruent and the two can work in tandem, although it could never be a true meritocracy or an absolute monarchy.

2. Regardless of whether or not you think they WOULD be elected, supposing you personally had to appoint one, who would it be? Would you at all be inclined to give yourself the position? If so, why would you want it?

3. Do you think, given a good degree of acceptance of the citizens of the US, that this monarchy could last? How do you think the international community would react? Would they want to influence the choice?

4. If it was simply decreed today, without any foregone conclusions about the general American population being more or less in favour of it, what do you think THEIR reaction would be? Would they be (obviously many would be) furious? Angered? Disconcerted? Apathetic? Content? Glad? Enthusiastic?

1. A rich white Republican would be elected.

2. I would select a Native American chief or gay rights activist, or better yet refuse to appoint one in the interest if democratic principles.

3. It wouldn't last more than the lifetime of the individual selected, and maybe not even that long; Americans would quickly come to oppose it. The international community would have good laughter at the US and do nothing.

4. Well, let's out it this way: I would be dancing in the streets because a socialist revolution would have been handed to me on a silver platter.

I believe that America would not become a Monarchical Country, because the people are very intolerant of Monarchs. I am pretty sure the American people would get angry.

1: The Americans have gotten a hate of Monarchy because of the Revolutionary war, thus making the American people not tolerant of non- Democratic governments.

2: The Government would likely fall because: The Monarch would most likely be inadequate of a leader, the leader most likely being an ordinary person with "Royal" blood.

    3. The Monarch or the people fighting for Monarchy would most likely be defeated, because not very much Americans support Monarchy.

These, and several other factors, even if a Monarchy- like government is effectively established, shall cause the inevitable destruction of the Monarch, and the Monarchical supporters themselves.

So, therefore, I do not believe that a Monarchy- like government will ever be established because the Americans will likely rebel against the government.
