Maybe religions are completely made up. I have no idea, and I never will until the day I die.

Well they do teach things, that contradict known facts and evidence, so that's a pretty strong indicator. Which is a pretty good reason, not to believe them.

Well, if it's not real, then when I die I won't know anything, I won't even be anything. That's seems pessimistic to me, and now I feel sad because I just thought about the dark expanse of nothingness that may await me. Oh man, I hope there's life after death.

Aye, but it's just so lonely. So meaningless, just your consciousness ceasing to exist.

You won't be conscious to feel anything, it'll be like an eternal sleep. Ain't the best outcome one could ask for, but certainly not the worst.

You have to be there to be lonely.

But yes, I understand it can be difficult to accept that the laws of the universe do not conform to your desires.

It is? ;) It always seemed like a pretty easy idea for me, that the truth CAN hurt. Me wishing I was a billionaire, doesn't make me a billionaire.

I had the same problem, but then I realized I won't be there to feel the cold, depressing, loneliness of being dead. Why? Because my consciousness will cease, like an eternal sleep, I won't feel a thing. That's pretty much how I got over it. But that probably doesn't work for everyone.

You won't experience nothingness since there won't be any "you" to experience it.

That is true, but I would prefer not not existing (double negative).

As would may of us. I just felt, I needed to accept what I believed was true, even if it isn't the most comforting idea.
