Just when I think that these maniacs would be gone for good, they start a strife about changing the name of a park. Joy.

What do you think would be the aftermath of this, NSG? Personally, I am worried that this would start something more significant. Just a nagging feeling, but still.

What makes you think the Klan ever went away? And a threat to a statue of General Forrest, well, he did found the first iteration of the Klan back in the 1860s, so yeah, they'd be kind of touchy.

They should watch South Park. Everything they oppose will be done because everyone hates the Klan.

The KKK hardly has the fire it had in the 1960s and 1970s I doubt we should worry much about this.

Whatever made you think they were gone?

And they aren't as powerful as before. So no.

Oh, yeah, because nobody is going to want to go through with a decision once they find out the Ku Klux Klan is against it.

The KKK in the 1960s and 1970s was just rednecks like it is now. The only difference was it was kinda okish for them to do their crap then.

They hardly worries anyone. And a question, could anyone sue them on hate speech? They were kinda saying bad things in public in a 62% black town.

Shouting "WAIT PAUER" in public is extremely deselegant.

From what we know of the Klan, they'll never die. They can only be reborn into a more terrifying form.

...I think it's very important that we protect the KKK's rights.

Wait, what? Are you some sort of racist?

The Klan are a bunch of disgusting freaks. They also seem to have problems spelling the word "clan". But as long as they don't do anything illegal (like robbing a bank or inciting racial violence), they have the full right to make protests and use their freedom of speech. I think that we need to respect this right. We can't make the Klan an illegal organization or repress their freedom of speech without suppressing our own rights.

I think the "Hate Speech" idea is dangerous ground. At what point does denying Neo-Nazis and KKK members their racist rhetoric start curtailing our own rights? At what point do we create the power for someone to be arrested because they disagree with you?

Agreed. If you are given a pie (free speech), you should be able to eat all of it.

The KKK in the 1970s had a "revival" of sorts under David Duke who tried to present them as a "pro-white rights group heavily influenced by Christianity" than what they really were. It would have worked to if that certain branch of the KKK didn't go and brutally lynch a black teenager.

When they cause direct harm to others.

Since the 1970s, the US has advanced in liberalism, to the point where we find them to be "smelly redneck doo doo heads."

This videois from the Jerry Springer show.
It's hilarious.

Want to do something fun? Post about someone burning a cross on public land as part of a KKK ritual. Then post about someone burning a cross off of public land to champion the separation of church and state. Watch a number of people on either side reverse their opinions on whether it should have been stopped.

Although in all seriousness, was that first picture the entire klan membership? They just look pathetic these days. Probably get more respect wearing COBRA uniforms.

I'm not too worried about the Klan, both of their members are not a big threat to society anymore and have become totally irrelevant.

The Klan is a shell of their former selves at this point. They aren't being particularly bright either.
