we attended the Olympics held in Nazi Germany, so I see know reason not to attend the Russian one.

I got quite annoyed after the Haiti earthquake. A baby was taken from the wreckage and people said it was a miracle. It would have been a miracle had God stopped the earthquake. More wonderful was that a load of evolved monkeys got together to save the life of a child that wasn't theirs. ~Terry Pratchett

The only problem here is the Russia stated that it is imposing its restrictions against homosexual displays onto athletes and spectators of the Olympics. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Nazi Germany jailed many Jewish spectators and athletes that had traveled there to watch/play in the Olympic Games.

I don't think they need to move it. It is their country and their laws. It's too late anyway.

Bad news. Russian Communist party supports the anti gay laws

Postby Armadrone » Fri Aug 09, 2013 9:16 pm

http://www.peoplesworld.org/russian-com ... rsecution/

As a Communist I am disgusted with the Russian Communist party's in its decision to support the new anti-gay laws. As an American Communist being with the Communist party of america we strongly support LGBT rights. Unfortunately the bourgeoisie are rising and taking control of Russia and their so called fake Communist party. Please note that many Communists support gay rights and to see the Russian communists support homophobia is a shocking turning point. What we need is ideas for smashing out the Social and economic inequality in Russia and bring down their capitalist government as well. Russia is being slowly engulfed in hate and money and we must do something about it. Otherwise, Russia's hate will spread all over the world.

The Russian Communist Party are Stalinists, I can't say I'm surprised.
I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

I'd say the Russian communist party is more of a nationalist party for people who miss the "good old days" of the Soviet Union. It bothers me that extremely authoritarian parties like this are constantly colouring people's perceptions of communists internationally.

The KPRF is not a communist party.

It is a right-wing nationalist, populist, religious party. Like most Russian "communists", they don't even pay lip service to actual Marxist or Leninist doctrines; their love of USSR is the love for the USSR the strong authoritarian nation-state, not USSR the Marxist experiment. You should not act surprised; they are not socialist or communist in the slightest, I confirm that as a Russian citizen. Some of their members are true leftists, but the parliamentary bloc of the party is just fascist, most likely in no small part because they have to adapt to Russia's authoritarian realities and United Russia's line.

If you are a Marxist, OP, have no illusions about the KPRF. They are right-wing nationalist, clerical fascists. Seek dialogue with real Russian leftists like the Russian Communist Workers' Party.

There is many, some are more authoritarian than others. There is maoism, Troskeyism, Leninism, American socialism/Communism, there are many different Communist ideology's. Depending on which one, some will be in support of a dictatorship or a free land. I as a Communist do not advocate a dictatorship. What I'm saying though is that The communists need to work with the LGBT community to help the obtain greater social equality. The LGBT people are a part of the working class and are essential to the Proletariat movement. They must get the help they need. Even if i wasn't a Communist i would still support them, its just also plain wrong to hate LGBT people.

Just wondering, how can you be a nationalist and a supporter of the USSR?

Fuck knows. Russia is a motherlode of insane political theories. Some single out a "new Soviet nation", some make up theories about USSR being a Russian nation-state built by great Russian nationalist Stalin. Of course, the KPRF is just being a weather vane, going with the ever-growing and rising nationalist sentiments in the Russian society.

" What we need is ideas for smashing out the Social and economic inequality"

Stop right there, you can't. At least not completely, not in regrades to any nation on earth. Besides it's kind of silly to try and spread that ideal to other countries, if it's not even done within your own country. For the US, economic inequality, only keeps getting worse.

Further more people should be free to choose if they want a capitalist system or other kinds, without other people trying to bring it down from the outside. That often ends miserably and backfires on the foreign powers that try to influence a different nation's course.

Yeppers. Just so you know kids: some communist parties are actual communist parties...others are just nostalgic Stalinists who quack to the left and walk to the right.

So it's pretty much call the party whatever you want it make the people believe it and do whatever you want once your in charge and that's why representative democracy will inevitably change in the future for better or worse.
