How serious are they going? I mean I'm no expert in international law but say a tourist announces their pro-homosexual stance do they go to jail, and if so, how long?

They go to jail and/or are deported. How long their time in jail is unknown.

Even though the law is wrong, Olympic athletes should be expected to follow the laws of the host country. If the Olympics were held here in America, I'd be quite offended if Olympic athletes were not required to follow our laws.

As long as you guys are fair to us and do this in Rio de Janeiro too to protest the fact that Brazil is thinking of approving a bill for sexual orientation anti-discrimination, but never doing so, since early 1996.

These guys really don't like gay people.

In my opinion, this law is stupid, and enforcing it on foreign athletes is stupider.

More info: http://www.ibtimes.com/gay-pro-gay-athl ... maker-says

"The new anti-gay legislation authorizes the Russian government to apprehend foreigners who are deemed to be 'pro-gay' and to detain them for up to 14 days before deporting them."
I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

See that's the thing though. Say that a crowd of hundreds if not thousands of visitors start speaking against the bigotry, do the police arrest them all? Where do they put them all?
And most importantly imo, if that many visitors are arrested how would their home countries respond?

They won't get arrested. They'll just get fined. And there'd be no effective enforcement mechanism to pay the fine. It's Mutko Gen, you haven't met him yet. He's the idiot who was proud of "nine four place finishes". He doesn't think logically.
