Since the goalie is on the ice for the whole game (99% of the time) the actual score is his +/-. +/- is really a useless category, IMHO, as someone just coming onto the ice during a line shift gets dinged for a -1 if a goal is scored vs. his team during the switch; but doesn't get a +1 if his team scores...

But he was saying that a goalie's +/- would be the same as the team's, that's not true.

This was my point... except I usually don't use scientific impossibilities, such as the devils winning a 4-0 shutout, in my examples.

It is a cumulative thing, but it's based off each game.

Saying just wins and losses doesn't tell how many goals they kept out compared to how many goals were put in while they were on the ice.

For instance: If a netminder let in a goal, and his team scored three, he would be a +2 for that game. Now in the next, he got a shutout and his team scored four, his +/- is now +5.
