After reading much debate in the forums about the mods banning swastikas, I have decided instead of hearing what the mods claim is the NS opinion, I will ask the players of Nation States directly,
Do you find the swastika offensive?

Also, if this is an attempt to unban the swastika for use in RP and flags, don't expect it to work.

I am not offended if I see a swastika.
It's a symbol.
If it's being used by nazi's i'm not offended by it either.
I'm offended by what those people say.
I'm potentially offended if it's used as an endorsement of what they say.
As an example, the swastika can be in a museum or history book or in a film and I have no problem with it.
If a Judge unfurls a flag of the swastika and props it up in a courthouse it's going to raise an eyebrow, as it seems to be an implicit endorsement of nazi ideology.
The symbol itself is not at all offensive.
The offence stems from endorsement of ideology.
Which is why dressing up as a nazi for halloween shouldn't offend anyone. Nobody could take that to be an endorsement of nazi ideology unless they are some kind of fool.
It's why noone should be offended if a game contains nazi symbolism unless it's clearly endorsing the ideology, etc.

Yes, I do. In the meaning of it being offensive not per se but because of the standard meaning of it in our culture, that is supporting Nazism.

This thread pretty much triggers all the alarms. My very first thought was that this is yet another attempt by neonazi scum to more openly manifest themselves on NationStates. Sometimes they try to be subtle, but they have trouble grasping the concept. Do not want, please lock.

What matters is what the site owner has decided. Which is that the swastika will not be allowed in flags. Thank you for the twelve-thousandth plus attempt, but the answer stays the same - thanks.
