My dislike is of the Zionists, who are pretty much radicals themselves. Otherwise I dont have too much an issue with Israel(except for certain distasteful organizations they have in the US, like one charity group that collects American money to assist Israeli soldiers and their families. Im not a big of fan of using one countries finances to fund another's military...for any reason.(Especially when that country is already receiving various financial support from America in the first place)

So it'd be clearer if I said I dont like the Zionists and current government of Israel, though have no problem with the state of Israel itself existing.

Islam can in no way progress with some clerics and cleric-wannabes giving unfounded fatwas such as "don't wish merry christmas", "don't make tattoos", "you have to wear hijab", "you should drink camel piss". These only make Islam look like backward and ridiculous, like an African tribal religion. Even though Islam emerged from Arabia; many backward Arabic customs and way of life that are not a part of Qur'an have been inserted into Islam.

Aye, that is true. Many things apparently law (like the full-body burqa for example, or honour killing) are but cultural syncretism and additions from local (often tribal) societies. But pure rejection of the hadith? Based on the Qur'an alone, could anyone tell who Abu Lahab was, for example?

Islam is perfection. It doesn't need to be westernized. It needs to be followed correctly without any cultural input. I have heard some good lectures on this, I need to find them to post. Abdurraheem Greens lecture on Extremism was good. Adding stuff is bad, taking stuff away is bad as well. The path of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) is what is important.

Islam isn't the problem, its popular interpretation—including by many Muslims—is broken. One example of this is the idea that Islam cannot be "westernized", when Islam was intended from the start as a universal religion that could adapt and apply to varied cultures regardless of their own cultural traditions, unless they specifically contradict those in the Qur'an. People who are westernized will naturally adopt a westernized form of the same basic principles, which would not change (or else it would no longer be "Islam").

I identify with the Quranists—that Hadiths should not form the foundation of Islam; instead, it should be derived solely from the Qur'an (with Hadiths analyzed on a case-by-case basis as supplementary items). Nothing in the Qur'an suggests that Islam cannot adapt to various cultures, as long as its central tenets and principles are followed. This includes both "eastern" and "western" culture. Islam in its most basic form does not explicitly apply to eastern or western culture; the idea that it does is a myth so massively propagated throughout both eastern and western media that increasing numbers of people in the modern world (on both sides) unfortunately consider it a fact.

I've always found that to be a rather hypocritical stance. There doesn't seem to be as much global outrage against the oppression of Assyrians, Kurds, Copts, and Berbers.

No, I am just saying it's hypocritical. It's just strange to see Muslims on the campus I attend at a pro-Palestinian rally commend each other on how they are all about social justice yet everyone seems to ignore the slavery and genocide that is occurring in Sudan.
