After the nukes flew, the Russian and Chinese Armies would spend four months negotiating with the Euros for passage rights, while the US and UK navies sailed around to launch air strikes at Russia and China. China's navy (IIRC) is mostly still amping up (supposed to be finished by 2050) and Russia mostly sold its navy to raise money after 1991. I don't know about the UK's RN, but the USN has several carriers and several new subs (including the SSN James Earl Carter. Both sides have spent approx. 30 yrs. developing ABM's, SDI, and so forth. IF the nukes wiped out a large % of the available milware (a big IF, and should be pre-specified), then training will tell. USN is composed (IIRC) of 100% volunteers, while the PRC's "People's Liberation Army Navy" is staffed by all conscripts, who escape after the hitch is up (or am I conflating too much with the USSR Navy?). As I understand it, the PRC has too much teeth and not enough tail, and this is their problem across the board, not merely in the PLAN.

That said, Russia has LOTS of times had their home turf annexed (Hitler, Kaiser Wilhelm II, Napoleon, Poland ["Time of Troubles", when Moscow was occupied by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth], rampaging Mongols, anyone?). Ususally they have got it back, though they may take years, or even decades (rampaging Mongols, anyone?) to get it back. In a war generally supposed to last only a few minutes, it is unlikely the war will last long enough for them to recover the conquered land.

I vote for US/UK, though of course it all depends on how much the nukes destroy first.

At this point the aliens would decide that it was time and abduct all of humanity.

All of us at once. They have THAT many ships.

So yeah. The aliens.

when it isn't just russia and china, but the entire rest of the planet, fighting out of desperation to preserve the future of the species and the planet, against the arrogance of divine right of the corporate mafia to destroy the very source of breathable oxygen, the most powerful military on the planet, just MIGHT not be the deciding factor.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

Neither... I would wait for both sides to wear(right useage?) eachother into weakness, then I would bring a group of like minded individuals together and take both alliances for my own

Likely which ever major political-economic bloc that stays out of the whole thing wins assuming its a real shooting war (either prolonged fighting or nukes).

Al Qaeda and whatever other Islamic militants.

No other conflict would so completely obliterate all their opposition
Your faith does not amuse me. Fundamentalism is a singularly unfunny disposition- A Rightist Puppet

In short, "fascist" is a modern word for "heretic," branding an individual worthy of excommunication from the body politic. The right uses otherwords ("reverse-racist," "feminazi," "unamerican," "communist") for similiar purposes, but these words have less elastic meanings. Fascism, however, is the gift that keeps on giving. - Jonah Goldberg, revisited.
