Really, in my experience, while gender roles are an arbitrary social construct anywhere, they're particularly consumerist, vapid, and dehumanizing in the west. Men are taught from childhood to see women just as a pair of tits and a vagina, rather than a fellow, potentially intelligent human being with thoughts and ideas of their own, and equally worthy of respect as any male (hell, it's mostly been men who've fucked the world up anyhow). And conversely, women are taught to pursue men based on perceived status moreso than any value to their character.

It's a lot better here in China, I'll just say that for what it's worth.
The People are my God.

True. I was trying to make the point that women aren't that different from men.

At least not more than one man is different than the other.

Sadly the only real advice for the socially awkward is to try to get to know people anyway, there are no shortcuts so to speak. I for one am a nerd who used to be extremely asocial (Still am, just not as much), but when I started university a year ago I figured fuck it #Yolo go for it. It was awkward, I didn't exactly make a bunch of friends to begin with, but I really feel like I've gotten a lot better at it by now. I think the fact that I abandoned any thought on sex a long time ago helped a lot in getting to know the girls, they get much more approachable when you just think of them as another person.
I mean heck, I barely feel awkward anymore when people pull the "party getting boring, remove cloathing" card
(Which is hilarious BTW, especially when the girls have to bully that one guy into removing his shirt. They can be ... persuasive when they feel like it)

I remember my teen years as an extreme combination of insecurity and arrogance; on the one hand feeling frantically uncomfortable and unsure at all times, but on the other hand being quite certain that my awkward self was entitled to being liked for Who I Really Am(tm).

Turns out that who I really am is obnoxious and off-putting to a great many people. That hasn't changed with time. What has changed is that I no longer feel entitled to have others put up with me, and instead content myself with having a few people in my life whose obnoxiousness runs parallel to my own. :P

Pretty much the same here.

Also I like Ouija boards.

I was once pranked with Ouija boards. Some friends thought it would be funny to set up a fake Ouija board session and make me believe and actual demonic spirit was haunting us all, due to my extreme religousness back then.

Not funny, at all.

Sounds hilarious to me...

she was fun, it was one of those relationships where we liked each other and liked to hang out, but if we tried to be "serious" we would kill each other in 3 months.

which brings up another point for the masses.

its just a fuckin date, you dont have to marry every girl you talk too.

the worst that is going to happen is the girl will say no. the answer is already no untill you ask.

Also, if a girl says "no" to going on a date, you know what that means?

It means she doesn't want to go on a date with you. That's all.

It doesn't mean she hates you. It doesn't mean she thinks you're ugly. It doesn't mean she thinks she is way too good for you. It doesn't mean she thinks you're stupid, or pathetic, or worthless, or anything else.

It just means she doesn't want to go on a date with you.

That's all.

That is not the end of the world.
