If anything other than a dwarf planet, Pluto should be considered a binary planetary system with its moon, Charon, which is nearly the same size.

And then, of course, we would need to reclassify Eris, Haumea, Makemake, Sedna, Quaoar, Ceres, Orcus, and probably 2007OR10, 2002TC302, 2007UK126, 2003UZ413, 2001UR163, 2003VS2, 2007JJ43, 2005RN43, 2010EK139, 2004GV9, 2002MS4, 2003AZ84, 2008ST291, 2010RE64, 2010FX86, 2005RM43, Salacia, and Ixion as well, among countless other possible dwarfs. Is it really worth recognizing potentially hundreds of tiny "planets" just for the sake of nostalgia?

I have a dream that dwarf planets will be considered planets too! Where the two are not segregated by the stalls of inequality; where dwarf planets, figuratively speaking, aren't asked to sit in the back of the bus. Where no planet, drawfy or not, is denied their right to be a planet. Free at last, oh free at last. Thank Science Almighty, we're allowed to call a Pluto a planet at last.

That last part is debatable.

To elaborate my position, when it first happened(the classification change) I made a big fuss about it and whined a lot and called the IAU names and considered writing a bitchy letter to them about it because I was in grade school, and accordingly young and foolish. Now that I'm slightly less immature(slightly) I can see why they did it(Ceres, Eris, Senda, Haumea, Makemake, etc.) and I consider Pluto a dwarf planet.

"I had a throwaway question that I wanted other people to entertain me with answering" is not sufficient grounds for an op. I think we had an actual topical convo on this some time back, but I'm disinclined to go digging for it atm. Knock yourselves out with the search function if it interests you - I'm sure it's in there somewhere.
