I drink a bit. Mostly beer/cider; the distilled drinks I've had have been 'bearable' at best. I've never drunk more than a couple of beers at a time; I don't really see the point of drinking more than that. Shame I can't say the same for friends, but I don't really care as long as they don't become a hassle to 'manage' (although they often do).

There is and there isn't a point. I've been so drunk I couldn't walk before (passed out while crawling up a staircase) But on the other hand you can have some pretty good fun when you're blind drunk.

There are like three or four verses and hadiths on alcohol, and none of them say "Alcohol is forbidden." Whenever the quran says something is forbidden, it outright says, "Forbidden to you is..." or something along those lines. The Prophet (pbuh) even tried to gain more followers by outright saying alcohol was fine so long as you weren't drunk during prayer, and then when he realized that alcohol was not the way to gain followers, he amended his saying to fit with the Quran and said it was bad to over-indulge or put it before good actions.

Since I don't take hadihts as a valid source that should definitely be followed... And yea; in Qur'an; I don't see a ban on alcohol. I just a recall a verse saying don't pray when you're drunk as you also said.

Drinking in Islam is banned. End of story.

As you can guess, I've been mostly on the receiving end of raging drunks, and as such what I've had to deal with is people running off into the countryside at 2am, passing out on concrete floors, lying down on busy roads etc.

I don't drink, per se, because I'm only 18, but I have tried various drinks before.

I hate beer (tastes like horsepiss), on the fence about whiskey, had a good wine, and love coconut rum.

Hello, fellow users and useresses,

This thread's for people who drink alcohol, as well as discussion about alcohol. In this thread you can say what kind of alcohol you like most, if you make mixes or not, wether or not you think it's a social problem, why you do(n't) drink, etc. Basically, it's an alcohol thread!

I'd like to ask you all to stay polite, calm, and not to flame people who use alcohol.

Personally, I like rum and vodka, and usually mix rum with cola (AKA Cuba Libre) and vodka with orange juice. I don't drink much beer or wine, as I consider these two too bitter for my own tastes, though when offered a Radler - Beer with citron juice - I'd accept it, because it tastes sweet rather than bitter.
So what about you guys? Do you drink, or not? Why, or why not? Do you drink mixes or do you drink straight out of the bottle? All those and more, just discuss alcohol, what alcoholic drinks you like, why you like it, how you like it, etc.

I drink beers and ales from a glass, be it a bottle or a nice glass or mug.
I drink my spirits neat in order to taste and enjoy/explore them. The exception is if they are the inferior spirits meant for the masses, and or to be mixed to begin with (again due to their inferior quality)
So, I avoid low quality spirits unless if I am at a social gathering; But then, Id probably just stick to beer.
I also enjoy liqueurs from time to time, or even when feeling a bit under the weather. Some fernet branca for example.

I will, and do, drink any alcohol infused beverage. My current drink of choice is Maker's Mark Bourbon, neat, with a tall ice water back (sipped not slugged), and I have been enjoying Long Trail Double Bag Ale, even though I usually prefer less alcohol content (7. somesuch %) in my beer. I keep a bottle of high quality vodka in the freezer for an occasional frozen shot (chased with various juices). And high end rum for an occasional rum and coke or a straight shot (sipped not slugged).

But really, any port in a storm* (so to speak, I really do not care for port).

*Now I must consume a Dark and Stormy (Gosling's Black Seal rum, and Reed's Real Jamaican Ginger Beer).*

I drink mostly Lonkero because I dislike the taste of beer and get horrible hangover if I mix mild drinks and spirits during the evening.

I used to be quite a teetotalist, but one could say that I've done a complete U-turn. Reading my old teetotaller messages really makes me cringe But I guess it was just peer pressure that really drove me into starting drinking, and I don't think it was a bad thing. I would've missed out on so many things if I had remained a teetotaller.

Anyway, my personal favorite alcoholic drink is Gin Long Drink or lonkero, a Finnish mild alcoholic beverage that kinda tastes like grapefruit. Some ciders are nice as well, but over here ciders are considered "women's drinks" so don't drink them too often. Rum cola is a close second, though most people here can't really mix it right.

In the other end of the spectrum are beers (I never understood how anyone could like it, it tastes like liquid bread to me) and all kinds of overly sweet chocolate/cocoa/hazelnut liquors and all cocktails that contain them.

Lidl sells excellent dry french sider whenever they are holding french weeks. You should try it. It's called coeur du normandie or something like that.

I've gotten the nickname "Dude" for the amount of White Russians I drink.

Typically Canadian Club, Panama Jack, Kahlua, and Baileys are my drinks of choice.
