Greek Internment Camps

Postby Ostroeuropa » Mon Jul 29, 2013 11:53 am

I was wondering why there isn't a thread on this and figured i'd make one.
Are you aware that Greece has recently been rounding up Immigrants, LGBT's, drug users, sex workers, and those in debt into internment camps under the name of Operation Zeus?
What should be done about it, if anything?

In my opinion, immediate international pressure needs to be placed against the greeks to discontinue the camps and to allow inspectors in to oversee this process. If evidence is found of deliberate genocide or passive genocide (by making the camps so awful that people die from the conditions) then military intervention may be required. There must be sanctions, and the government must be brought to trial.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Yawn. Another day in lala land. Not very profitable to lock people up. Although I chuckled at the concept of killing Zeus.

Sanctions then military intervention if that fails. This is not tolerable at all...

Contrary to the propaganda, we live in probably the least materialistic culture in history. If we cared about the things of the world, we would treat them quite differently. We would be concerned with their materiality. We would be interested in their beginnings and their ends, before and after they left our grasp.

By doing that you could piss the greeks off enough by voting the Golden Dawn into office and making them the defacto party. Perhaps slight economic sanctions would be good - it's not like the Greeks have anything valuable to be trading with anyway.

I continue to maintain that modern Greece's opposition to homosexuals is clear-cut evidence that it is an entirely new entity that has precisely nothing whatsoever to do with the Greeks of antiquity.

I motion for modern Greeks to rename themselves not-Greeks on account of their blatant violation of everything the Greeks of antiquity stood for.
