Dude is an American English slang term[1] for an individual. It typically applies to males, although the word can encompass all genders.

If you don't want to be referred to as it, that's fine, but it's not just a masculine term. Not where I'm from, anyway.

I understand the word. It may be used as gender neutral by some, but it's still masculine to me, and I don't appreciate being called a man.

Technically, it's a word for males, which is used as a gender neutral term by some people. It doesn't change it's still a masculine word, so Olthar is right about it.

Animal bloodsports should not, because the animal is unable to give consent. Politicians on the other hand give consent once they sign up for the job. And it's funnier.

A full scale combat scenario to decide who gets to be Minister for Roads does appeal to me somewhat.

I don't see how you're contributing to it, as you're clearly not at all trying to be helpful.

I will sometimes use "dude" or "man" when speaking in person to a woman, in a similar way to saying "oh boy" or "goddamn it". However, if someone is uncomfortable with it for whatever reason, I won't.

The Black Plague was carried by fleas that lived on the rats. It's not spread directly by mammals like rabies.

Today rats are used to detect landmines and tuberculosis. They're basically the dogs of the rodent family.

I'll support animal bloodsports when the animals are allowed to force their owners to do the same.

At las, rats are also a vector for diseases such as the bubonic plague, hantavirus, hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome, leptospirosis, lymphocytic chorio-meningitism, rat-bite fever, salmonellosis, and tularemia. That is a lot of diseases which cause all sorts of horrid symptoms and even millions of deaths over many centuries.

Rat baiting is done with a dog such as a terrier biting into rats.
