As always, it's the fundamentalists who are right about theological matters.

Leviticus only applies to the Jews. What more do you want? Christians don't follow the rules against eating shellfish and wearing mixed cloths, so why would they follow the supposedly anti-LGBT parts?

And even then the majority of Jews are accepting of gay rights. 76% want to legalize gay marriage compared to 55% amongst everyone.

Leviticus doesn't explicitly say, "Homosexuality is a sin, don't do it" either.

And if Desmond Tutu is against homophobia, then he shouldn't call himself a christian any more than someone who tolerates polytheism should call themselves a muslim.

Christians can't support LGBT rights? Are you out of your mind?

It depends upon which denomination you follow for example with me I am a Baptist who follows the doctrine of not supporting homosexuality but will tend to generally just brush it aside

I like this line of thinking.
I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

To that I would disagree.

Yes, I consider opposition to LGBT equiality to be homophobia.

Tutu has proven Anglicanism to be one of the better sects of Christianity.

Sadly, it's Welby who's big Anglican dog right now.

Williams was a lot better.

If magic happened and Tutu became the Archbishop of Canterbury, then I'd feel there was mileage in worshipping a historical relic.

Despite the fact that I have some very good homosexual friends? Bah whatever it's not like it matters anyway because I can't do anything to change your opinion and and you can't do anything to change mine, besides I consider homophobia to be violence or hatred towards homosexuals not opposition towards gay marriage.

Fundamentalists are usually right about theological matters?

Fundamentalists have the laziest theology possible. It requires literally no serious thought. You're insulting generations of people of varying religious beliefs (and several of none) who have spent their lives delving into matters of religion, humanity, and how the two relate.

The Old Testament also tells us that those who do not worship the one true God should be murdered. This includes Christians with their stealth trinity polytheism. Eaters of swine are also horrible, horrible sinners. Got bacon?

But utterly obsolete rules from ancient desert tribes aside, it seems most of us can agree that bishop Tutu is a good person.
