President's family costs US 20 times what royal family costs UK
9/30/2012

U.K. newspapers are having a little chuckle about a new book reporting that Obama's family cost U.S. taxpayers $1.4 billion last year alone, whereas the royal family cost the U.K. a measly $57.8 million – more than 20 times less than the First Family. Obama's expenditures include the salaries of his staff and Secret Service, as well as the maintenance of Air Force One, which he's required to take (and has been using increasingly in this election year). The comparison is being emphasized to advertise "non-partisan" author Robert Gray's book "Presidential Perks Gone Royal." Still, before you get too hot under the collar, if you estimate the current number of taxpayers in the U.S. at around 216 million, that's roughly $6.48 per taxpayer.

America and China are both considerably more humongous than Britain... China is also a Communist Fascist dictatorship... But also remember, Britain had the world's largest empire... and speaking of empire, world's 3rd largest economy, Japan, ruled by an Emperor

I am a staunch monarchist and I loath republican sentiment with every fibre of my being. As well, I despise the arrogant pricks that believe that because they do not care about something, that nobody else in the entire world cares ether. If you personally do not care about the royal baby, kindly keep your opinion to yourself, instead of saying "who cares?" because guess what? Other people DO care.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just really pissed off right now because I read some really stupid comments on an article about the baby earlier.

ANYWAY, I am excited at the news of the birth of my future King! Long live the Queen, and long live the Canadian monarchy, for the day it dies is the day Canada also dies.

Two words:

WHO CARES?

The monarchy has no real power, so we should giving it so much press attention and focus on the more important things.

There... that's my opinion on the subject.

I did get rather nauseated by the BBC's coverage. At one point a reporter was going on about excited crowds gathering outside Buckingham Palace over live shots of the gates of Buckingham Palace that showed no such thing, I've seen larger and more excited crowds at the bar of a village pub just before last orders.

In the end I switched over to RT just to hear some newsworthy stories.

Thats like asking what is the point of art. It acts as a symbol and a unifying force.

And castles have a lot of use even without provisions. Tourism, for example.

CNN is even worse. At least the BBC is actually covering their own royalty, rather than that of a foreign country.
