Unless you're doing a degree on porn addiction.

Pft. If we're going to ban things that have a negative impact on one's studies, why not ban abusive relationships, working part-time jobs more than 10 hours/week and message boards?

Don't give them any ideas.

The artist who drew that was clearly not very good and definitely seemed to care more about saying "TITS! Granted, probably more disturbing is that she appears to be composed of two different people: one standing up and the other laying down.

I think it hilarious how you and your friends here like to say anime and videogames are so sexist and unrealistic, yet you endorse the proliferation of porn and other forms of prostitution that are more sexist and unrealistic with real people acting out the roles. Yes?

I agree with the censorship of pornography...especially for the youth.

On some level censorship would be nice. But this wont be solved via legislation. I still think it's in the hands of the parents. The prime min has got a lot of sympathy from me, but if I were to give the final vote to pass the legislation, I wouldn't. Legislating wont do anything considering pornography is too abstract in definition.

It's like when America put a ban on drugs. Across the nation, people are still smoking weed. The Government is not a force designed for meddling in private actions. The same can be said for the UK. Putting a ban on porn is too abstract and there is too great a room for speculation.

What stupid blog? You're referring to another post that you're not quoting perhaps where I link Escher Girls. Here I'm just describing how bad the artist who drew your flag is at drawing women. (I mean really, her shoulders and her breasts are aligned differently. Bodies don't work that way)

I think it hilarious how you and your friends here like to say anime and videogames are so sexist and unrealistic, yet you endorse the proliferation of porn and other forms of prostitution that are more sexist and unrealistic with real people acting out the roles. I don't endorse porn. I don't actually like a lot of it (surprisingly, I'm not the target audience). That doesn't mean I think that someone should be prevented from making a living on it or enjoying it. As long as people aren't being exploited in the making of it, it's fine.

You just don't seem to like when actual women are in control of their sexuality and active participants. Instead, you prefer that men draw them however men want them to be and declare that this is how it should be and nobody else should ever think of having sex with a real live person.

Because sexualizing women is ok, but if the woman enjoys it we have a problem.

I can't say I've ever heard of someone complaining of getting sand in their scrote.
If it can get in there, that's signifying a much more pressing issue.

Pornography is not being in control. Besides, we're losing the point. This is legislation that bans children from viewing porn.

We're also losing another valuable point. These are people. Not toys or dolls or cartoons. Real people. They present themselves as objects that respect cannot be given to in this society.

The idea that this glorifies women in some way is a new concept to me and I don't see it. I like girls not for how they look but for who they are. Particularly that they think on a complete different level than us guys. The female body is attractive, but if that's the only thing girls think guys should be after, then I don't know what to say.

It doesn't ban children from viewing porn.
Children have always been banned from viewing porn.

This bans households from viewing porn, except at request to their ISP, and neither case will prevent any mildly tech-savvy under-eighteen (in 2006, 12-17yos were apparently the largest demographic for online porn in the US) from viewing it.

Thats because of people like you, not porn in and of itself.

Many of us are perfectly capable of seeing these people as respectable members of society. Do not pretend like your weird little hang ups are absolutes in any way.

If anything this is damaging the goal of the plan because now parents who aren't tech-savvy will fall into a false sense of security because they think the ISP is some kind of god who can prevent their kids from viewing porn.

Should've been an opt-in plan with parents being advised to get their own parental controls if they want to.

The government should have never gotten involved to begin with. If you want to block porn, use something like OpenDNS, instead of mandating it be blocked across the entire UK, opt in or opt out.
