Malphilindo... Bruneians and Singaporeans Welcome too!

Postby San Salazar » Sat Jul 20, 2013 4:54 pm

Apa kabar! Thread ini buat yang bisa omong bahasa Filipina, Indonesia, atau Melayu. Silakan pake "guide" ini supaya lebih gampang di mengerti. Tapi yang mau belagar kulturnya.

(Whew, my Indonesian is rusty. even after living there for three years it's still at a three year old's level.)

Notice: Please refrain from swearing and please do not use Google Translate. I myself can't speak any of the languages save for Indonesian and a teeny tiny bit of Filipino. English is okay to be used.

Indonesian

Malaysian

Filipino

Bahasa Jawa

Okay, so this is a thread for Malaysians, Filipinos, and Indonesians...As well as Singaporeans and Bruneians. So what do you know about the region of this world? Do you know what Malphilindo means? Are you a Filipino, Malaysian, Singaporean, Indonesian, or Bruneian? Are you aware of the politics of the region? Can you speak any of the languages?

Vinzons and Abubakar also extended discussion to King Kalakaua of Hawaii and proposed that Polynesian states also be included under the Grand Malay

I found that Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia have a significant similarities in language due to the area. Should note that Malagasy also has similarities.

I am not Indonesian, tapi aku bisa bicara Bahasa Indonesia dan Melayu sedikit. Six years in Indonesia had me learning the language. Even though the prefix and suffix structure wigs me out, most of the language and syntax is more logical than English.

Harapnya, aku bisa praktis Bahasaku, karena aku akan kembali ke Indonesia pada bulan Desember tahun ini. I still need to relearn the grammatical structure so I will be active in this thread with anyone who will put up with my now-rusty Indonesian

From what I know, it just caught one due to the name of the Philippines, I'll look it up. I'm pretty sure there are some that are more well learnt in this topic than I am.

There are a lot of Indonesians here on NS, not sure how many of them still know their mother tongue. Norstal used to come by a lot, he is from Jakarta, I remember.

Yohannes/whatever his name is now too, he is from Bali, I think, but lives in New Zealand for study.

I prefer the name Kapuluan myself because it links to the name Kuparu an old name in Tahitinui and reflected in Upolu (Samoa)

The Philippines currently has more then one official language.
1. Tagalog

2. English which is widely spoken including in the government and businesses. Sometimes more then Tagalog.

3. Spanish. Spanish was official. Then it was dropped in late 20 century. But it has been re-officialized in 2009. Spain is helping bring the language back. But learning it is not mandatory. The Philippines has many historical documents from the Spanish era and when they became Independent. The first Philippines constitution was in Spanish. But with the use of Spanish dropping there were few people who could read or translate these documents so they tended to collect dust.

In parts of the Philippines they speak Chavacano which is a Spanish Creole language.
Read this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish-ba ... _languages

Watch this Chavacano example - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqaDimxoXrM

While under US control Tagalog, which is the main language used on the Philippines Northern island of Luzon where the Capital City of Manila is located, was made the official language. Problem was that there were more Cebuano speakers in the Philippines then Tagalog speakers. Cebuano speakers come from Visayas islands in the Central region of the Philippines. They needed to have a referendum on which language to make official but the politicians in Manila pushed forward Tagalog.

Read this on the Philippines languages, Yes, there are many other native languages spoken in the Philippines.

Harapnya, aku bisa praktis Bahasaku, karena aku akan kembali ke Indonesia pada bulan Desember tahun ini. I still need to relearn the grammatical structure so I will be active in this thread with anyone who will put up with my now-rusty Indonesian

Kenapa kamu ke Indonesia? Kamu kesana buat liburan atau bisness?

Holy crap I need to practice my Indonesian more...took me more than I'd like to compose those sentences.

1. Tagalog

Correction good sir. There are many Filipinos who can read, write and speak Spanish, the problem is that they are in Spain and not in the Philippines to do so.

It seems the Philippines will get back Sabah which is part of the Sulu Sultanate when the UK. give back the Malvinas to Argentina. They will drag it on forever until the Philippines or Argentina become major regional powers.

Once read the lease agreement on Sabah and it seems not all of Sabah is included in the lease.

This will take you to the lease agreement.

Someone took the above lease agreements description of where the lease territory starts and end and put them on a map.

This is the map. Its large. Everything to the right of that thin red line was what was leased and what the Philippines is claiming. Its not all of Sabah.

So it seems the lease was for close to 65% of Sabah and not all of it. Also, one small part in current day Indonesia.
