Its highly unlikely he possesses these things specifically for a Zombie apocalypse, so being disappointed to still have his valued possessions is also highly unlikely.

What I am not seeing among preparation is physical fitness.

Speaking frankly I over heard a most excellent statement in a pharmacy the other day relating to the SHTF crowd... "If you cant run a mile in 10 minutes and be functional at the end, all the guns in the world will not prepare you for a real disaster."- The point of this is that a 10 minute mile shouldnt be difficult at all, but SHTF guys tend to be ... grossly out of shape.

To get an A on the fitness test at my 7th graders school for PE, an 8 minute mile is required. Thats for perspective, now honestly at 38, over a mile my 13 year old can out run me, past a mile, I can run him down like a three legged dog, my 15 year old daughter however, did Long Distance Running for her school, so I think she is at the point where she can run me down... Arizona, after running 3 miles in the valley heat... yeah, Im pretty sure if I went back to Detroit, I could run forever.

Not because of zombies. Its been pointed out repeatedly in this thread, zombies are people without most of the stuff that makes us dangerous in any way. There's basically no threat at all. If you think you'll be living out your socially acceptable murder fantasy, you're wrong. The whole thing will probably be sorted by time you've finished your gearing up sequence. There won't be anyone to kill but random passers-by. The closest thing there'll be to people trying to get into your house will be someone knocking to check if you're okay and heard the all clear.

Eight minute mile is fairly easy for me, I just left what I guess you'd call seventh grade or year eight in English terms. I think most people in my PE class can do that so I'm surprised that would get you an A. I'm fairly confident I could run twenty miles through the south downs without break if my life depended on it, though twelve is the furthest I've done and that was shattering. If I walked that though, that'd be easy to sustain for a month so I could get to Glasgow in a week and a bit, where my cousin has various firearms and knifes, probably not all legally though he won't admit it. I'm a sprinter though, so that's my real advantage.

The point isn't whether it's possible or not, it's what would you do if it looked like your classic zombies were going to overrun society

Both...alaska is somewhat safe away from zombie and they got a home there. anything that promises a safe haven is good enough for my self-interest.

That's nice, but you won't need them. The government would handle it pretty quickly. Unless you live very close to the outbreak you won't be in much danger at all.

The movie is not canon. Only the book is.

That being said, I would take one of the cues from the novel and flee to a castle if possible. The best defense against zombies.

Or I could just put all my cleric levels to good use and turn undead.

As I expect half of Nowy Targ, Waksmund, Ostrowsko, Łopuszna and Obidowa to do the same, we can regroup for phase II:

Secure the passes at Bielanka, Sieniawa, Rdzawka, Snozka, Łapsze Wyżne and Zdiar. Towards Orawa it's too open, so we will just rely on flooding that area with armed men.

The forests at Czerwony Bór and between Nowy Targ and Ludźmierz will need to be chopped down, as this area is relatively flat and close enough to the city to form a security hazard in case some zombies do get through.

With a secure perimeter, we can start working building up the food production. The sandur between Harklowa, Nowa Biała, Gronków, Szaflary and Ludźmierz to the south, and the river Dunajec to the north will be good for this. It's flat, open, and fertile enough to grow potatoes and raise livestock. The corridor between Łopuszna and Ludźmierz will be for the general population, the most vulnerable will be settled in Nowy Targ and Waksmund only. The outside villages; Harklowa, Nowa Biała, Gronków, Szaflary, Zaskałe, Rogożnik, Trute and Klikuszowa will only be settled by groups of armed farmers that can take care of themselves.

Airplanes at the airport at Nowy Targ will be used for patrolling the unsecure Orawa border, so it's possible to send in militia for the kill if zombies are spotted there. Occasionally they will be used for making runs to any of the major cities to secure things like medicine for use in the hospital.

And then we wait until the zombies starve.
