Me neither. Just not a melon person.
Fried chicken, on the other hand, is delicious.

I'm sorry, I don't have a share of the watermelon. I don't want a share of the watermelon. It's just not me; I refuse to be part of this watermelonnormative society.

You do not fight ignorance by giving people false impressions.
And you certainly don't fight it by dismissing anyone who is bigotted out of hand before trying to educate them.
People who look at gay pride parades and think "Woh, what the fuck?" and get uncomfortably aren't being told regularly enough that that ISN'T how gay people act. It's how Priders act.

To some of them, it's probably their only exposure to openly gay people. Especially in areas where being in the closet is basically mandatory.
How the fuck do you think it's helpful, when you put it in that context?

If they want to do it, that's their right.
I dislike it. But fine.
But stop calling it gay pride.
That isn't being intolerant.
That's being tolerant, but demanding you be specific about what you are representing.
I've repeated that several times, that you still fail to understand it and continue to say "But it's their right to act this way!" shows you aren't actually paying attention.

You mean "false impressions" that come up when someone pretends to be someone they're not in order to fit in? Those kinds of false impressions? And you certainly don't fight it by dismissing anyone who is bigotted out of hand before trying to educate them.
So what? Let them miss out on enjoying interesting and wonderful people if they can't get past it. Gay rights will come with or without popular acceptance because there are courts which exist to uphold laws. It might take a bit longer, but I don't see how sacrificing one's identity is worth it in the long run.People who look at gay pride parades and think "Woh, what the fuck?" and get uncomfortably aren't being told regularly enough that that ISN'T how gay people act. Oh yes, it's so terrible that people go have fun at a parade. To some of them, it's probably their only exposure to openly gay people. Especially in areas where being in the closet is basically mandatory.

How the fuck is it helpful to pretend you're someone you're not just for the sake of blending in and making bigots comfortable around you?

They're not calling it gay pride.
They're celebrating the fact that gay pride allows for a safe and joyful mode of self-expression in this manner.
You seem to miss this point in your freakout over what "normal" people might think in the process.

I'm not pretending to be straight.
Nothing about you being who you are demands that you keep saying "This is gay culture." you can be who you are just fine, and call it what it is. Pride culture.
You don't need to drag the rest of us into it and make us victims of you perpetuating this bullshit.
