Prejudice is a result of ignorance.
You do not fight ignorance by giving people false impressions.
And you certainly don't fight it by dismissing anyone who is bigotted out of hand before trying to educate them.
People who look at gay pride parades and think "Woh, what the fuck?" and get uncomfortably aren't being told regularly enough that that ISN'T how gay people act. It's how Priders act.
To some of them, it's probably their only exposure to openly gay people. Especially in areas where being in the closet is basically mandatory.
How the fuck do you think it's helpful, when you put it in that context?
Especially given the attitude of some of you who seem to want the parades to be PURPOSEFULLY uncomfortable for people?
I mean, seriously. I don't get that rationale at all

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

If they want to do it, that's their right.
I dislike it. But fine.
But stop calling it gay pride.
That isn't being intolerant.
That's being tolerant, but demanding you be specific about what you are representing.
I've repeated that several times, that you still fail to understand it and continue to say "But it's their right to act this way!" shows you aren't actually paying attention.

Hating gay males who don't conform to a normative gender presentation associated with straight males is no better than stereotyping gay males as all being fashionable and girly. It's also disrespecting the history of the gay liberation struggle. You can only live openly as an assimilationist queer man today because of the shocking, defiant and, yes, fabulous queer people who came before you.

While I don't support the idea of stereotyping every single queer person as flamboyant, I don't think we should be trying to shame queer people who are flamboyant. And I don't see how it's harming the cause of LGBT rights in anyway, the cause seems to be doing fine regardless.

Being gay is not a culture.

However, there is a gay culture.

But, you know, I understand that it's easier to simply post than to read even part of the thread for context.

Rather than say "I'm not like that, so it's not gay culture", why not say "I'm like this, so this is also part of gay culture"?
