'We're here, we're queer, get use to it!' is the famous quote from the first gay rallies.

It doesn't matter if you approve or not, the purpose of these parades is to become aware that people of different sexual orientations and lifestyles envelope different ideas from the hetronormative and patriarchal society imposed by the majority. The purpose of being sexually open and varied is to show the diversity of people who live these different lifestyles while emphasizing that these people exist within the human world.

and also to stop people from killing themselves too. that helps.

Some people just don't know... I say I am not pretty sure of my sexual orientation, though I think bi would be choice because it is compatible with my affectivity and historic.

Well, there's that too. Being a teenager is a confusing time and nobody has everything figured out.

Plus being raised in a heteronormative society while having distinctly non-hetero feelings probably really doesn't help the situation.

what That makes no sense.

If you actually supported equality, then you wouldn't need people to act a certain way or say something special to convince you. I'm a feminist, I don't fucking go around threatening women who behave in a way I don't like, "I might not be inclined to support your freedom if you continue to act this way...."

You have no fucking clue what supporting equality means. You're doing the opposite.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Yes they do. They think gays are lisping prancing feather wearing people because that is the image they're being presented. All popular depictions of homosexuals are horrendous stereotypes because that is the image the community is pushing.

Nah, while there are still of course people that do not accept LGBT people into their communities because of their LGBT-ness, on campus it had really become a non-issue. That, and a lack of members in general to put forward the work. If even the LGBT people do not care about their formal community, then who would.

Could it be the media reporting the events?
I mean, I admit that's a possibility. News media is pretty full of scummy behaviour like that.
Do they actively seek out and find these people and then film just them?

If people act like stereotypes they give credence to stereotypes. I don't think that means anyone has to act a specific way, but when you project an image you should make sure it's a good one.
