I'm just saying this in vein of the whole "feminine colours" theme, but I actually prefer a nice, pale-pink dress shirt. Pastels help me look less like an anemic live-in-the-basement colour, and pink, I'm told, is flattering.

I know. I'm saying society, even the people who snicker, only perceive the color as girly within certain contexts (gays and women, for instance).

Being gay is as abnormal as being left handed and offers about the same justification for acting abnormally.

It's been a hell of a long time since it's been necessary to create a culture that provides safety, security, and freedom for left-handers, or since it's been necessary to proclaim one's pride in one's left-handedness in order to make a point regarding equal treatment under the law. It's not the same thing, and by attempting to argue such, you're either insulting the intelligence of your readers or your own intelligence.

Left-handedness was discouraged until the '50s or '60s over here. The nuns hit my aunt's hand whenever she tried to write with left.

When I grew up (also a southpaw), neither nuns or the hitting happened any more.

It's probably either an allusion to a sports player or a gang. It could be something else, but that's what a blatant number tends to represent in street culture.

My mom was right-handified by the terrifying mother of grandma in the 1970s I think.

She never really learned to know the difference between left and right side after it.

I disagree. I don't think it was an attack. It was a statement about his own uncomfortable-ness with what some people think he should be as a gay male and how he feels. That is an internal issue he needs to figure out for himself that no one here can help him with except to call him out on it.

Stupid statements, even when sourced among internalized inconsistencies and disquietness, can onoy be cured by harsh sunlight truth and contrarian correction offer. He does, indeed, deserve to be eaten alive. Either he learns how to better articulate his discomfort or he drowns in confusion. Either way, an ignorant voice is silenced.
