I like to play Sniper on TF2 when we already have too many just to make people angry. I've played matches on 2Fort with a literal wall of snipers on the balcony.

Spy is just so much more fun.

Also, Super Mario Brothers 2 was basically Mario characters (introducing Toad) replacing sprites from a different Japanese game because the Japanese version of the game was too hard and Nintendo didn't want to risk the popularity of the series in the US. The only reason Peach can float is that one of the characters in the original game can float.


Also... she sucks at digging. All of the characters have their good and bad sides. Luigi can jump super high (but his jumps are hard to control), Toad can dig super fast (but can't jump very high) and Mario is just decent all around.

If anything, it's way more understandable here since the vast majority, instead of just a plurality or minority, are ACTUALLY white heterosexual males.
As such, focusing on games is completely missing the point. You need to focus on societies conception of what "Normal" is. As soon as you accept that, you immediately see why Sarkeesians videos are going to be a huge fucking waste of time and just drag oonnn and onnnn and ooonnnn and make tonnes of factual errors, all going over the same basic point.

Other than the problem of main characters (Quickly becoming irrelevant as character customization becomes more and more mandatory in games), we've only really got gamer communities. And They aren't sexist.
Some are. Most aren't.
If anything, Games (Due to the aforementioned customization) are going to be the FIRST medium of entertainment to be gender neutral and non-sexist.

MLP's great. I love it, obviously.
But the thing is, it isn't gender neutral. It's absurd to pretend it is. It's the same problem, the opposite way.
Just like a woman can love a show where a bunch of guys are the only characters of note, there isn't anything preventing me loving MLP.
But it's still conforming to societies standards and reinforcing them.
The right way to balance out shows and media is to have either gender neutrality (Customization) or gender balance.
Weirdly, X-Files is an awesome example of this.
At least from what I remember it is.
You'd have a hard time arguing one of them is the "main" character, or more "developed." We need more shows like that.
Once those shows become absolutely dominant and mainstream, it'll be fine to have the occasional show with a more narrow cast of characters.
But at the moment, 90% or something of shows are white male heterosexual leads. Thats bad.
