I think its partly due to the Nerdy Geeky living in your mom's basement stereotype of gamers.

Dudes, I already linked to the reason earlier in this thread. Then someone else linked two parodies of it.

Seriously. There's a reason why when I play my MUD, despite my character being a nice and friendly person, her demeanor is set to cold. It's because when it's not and I'm around strange men in the game, they insist on trying to make out with her.

what the fuck

Yeah...

Fortunately, she currently lives in a relatively small town in the game so the people there all know each other and aren't assholes. Every once in a while a powerhunter comes through though and he goes all like "oh, must harass the locals!" and then my character screams for an adult and goes to hide. I guess now if someone tries to pull that shit she can sic the tiger on him (my character is a ranger... she has a tiger as a companion... it is awesome).

There's definitely a lot of sexism in video games.

Anita Sarkeesian has been doing a youtube series on the roles women play in video games, if you're interested.

Man, the shit storm that was sent her way for that. Oy vey.

Yeah, it's almost like sexist assholes want to defend their sexist little no-girls-allowed forts or something.

:p Well at least all-in-all it's a positive experience, and there's plenty of non-assholes to go around. The whole sexual harassment thing is pretty gross tho

Some people have little in-game relationships and stuff. So they do the whole flirting and making out and whatever thing. When I set my demeanor to cold, I just reject all their advances though and usually people only take one attempt to figure out it's not going anywhere.

I don't play my character as interested in anyone (in part because I'm in an actual relationship and my character and my partner's character are not at all suited for each other and in part because that's kinda weird).

Sorry but, by calling it "sexism" you remind me of those lesbian vloggers or the other "politcally correct white knight" vloggers

No sexism in this post. No siree.

Rather sickening. Knew a few people who started blasting Sarkeesain. Deleted them from Facebook and stopped following them on Twitter.

I'm sorry you had to encounter such shitheads to begin with. At least they outed themselves so you don't have to deal with them any more. :)

Sexism(Sexy ladies in video games) causes more men to start playing video games. The Industry responds to the increased male gaming sector by adding for sexism.

How is it sexism? IT IS MARKETING. The game is supposed to be bought by teenage boys, and what is better for advetisment to teenage boys than TITS? Seriously, are you guys trying to find things to complain about?

Teenage boys are nowhere near the biggest market for video games (they make up only 13%). Most gamers are in their 30s.

So... what about the fact that most males in Skyrim are ultra buff and full of muscles. Aint that sexism?

Male power fantasies are not the same as making women into sex objects.

Here's a comic to explain the difference.

Men in their 30s like tits too.

And 45% and growing portion of the market has their own tits to stare at.

Anyone under their forties and male likes the Halo 4 Cortana girl

Anyone?

Including the 45% of the video game market who are women? Or do we not count?

Same logic then, not all men find this women attractive, and women might have a fantasy to look like this girls :)

Different kind of fantasy.

So hot women cant be consindered as idealization for females?

Not if you define "hot" to be tiny with giant tits. That's not in the powerful, competent, ass-kicking way.

There is the weight slider, but that just makes them bigger altogether. The only really revealing pieces of armor are the fur armors, and they're revealing for the male characters too. Skyrim is a pretty bad example of sexism in video games, it features several strong female characters who think as well and independently as the male ones, (which doesn't say much given Artificial Stupidity and the fact that it's a single player game).

Actually, it was brought up as an example of a good game initially. Then this post:

Is where we get the "Skyrim is sexist" claims starting. Amazingly, it was someone who doesn't think that video games are generally sexist (except when they're sexist against men).

You mean making it known that one is female like having a female name? Or using the chat? Or picking a female character?

Please.

Actually know, I dont find that sexist but I dont find what you find sexist as sexist either. I was just applying YOUR logic to the male characters

Except that you're not. You're just proving that you don't understand.

Also, you were looking for the other kind of no/know there.

Where did you even get that from?

Your posts, duh.

Apparently women are the sum of sexually appealing parts and nothing more.

...but I'm sure you're not sexist.

No, it something attractive. To males it is the tits of the females, to women it is muscles and hairstyle. Same shit

No. Do I need to show you the comic again? Male characters are not created with being appealing to women in mind. They are created with the goal of being appealing to men. Just like female characters are created with the goal of being appealing to men.

That's a significant part of the problem.

It is obvious that women born with big tits are sexist and should be ashamed for betraying their gender like that

That's not how it works.

Why is everything created to be appealing to men?

Because we live in a patriarchal society which believes that non-straight non-male people don't count?

Technically, non-white people often don't count either, but that's probably for another thread.

If they can outnumber the males, then they can't be peripheral in nature anymore.

We're still the peripheral for movies despite buying most of the tickets.

Are you kidding me? Boy bands are designed to be appealing to men? Really? Really?

We're talking about video games here, buddy. You might want to go find whatever thread you fell out of where you were talking about boy bands.

Well, "basement neckbeards" are really the main buyers of video games.

No they're not. I posted stats back on page 1 or 2.

These executives won't learn until their companies aren't profiting anymore. Time for boycotts.

How are we supposed to outnumber the males if we're boycotting?
