Well, that's great when it has plot relevance. Having an all-white US military because racism was never overcome is all well and good.

How often do you hear about mothers going to war? They said that for convenience. Not to be sexist. And I think you think that if both sexes aren't treated the exact same, you consider them sexist. This is not so. Men and women are built differently, and have varying needs physically and mentally. For example I would say women make great doctors and nurses during wartime, because they can handle guts better than a man can.

As customers they should be entitled to some form of appeasement. That is, if game companies don't want to lose sales in a demographic group.

And you exaggerate, odds are female gamers probably wouldn't want a character with a niqab or a burqa...they'd be satisfied with, well, just normal attire depending on the games' setting. And if this issue gets bigger over time, or if society becomes more sensitive on the matter, sooner or later it'll be bound to happen.

I don't see the problem with it. They are games their supposed to be fun, and not all of them are going after realism.

I've seen girls cry on video games for almost nothing. I'm sitting here, playing Team Fortress 2 or CS, and suddenly a girl is wailing on the mic because somebody called her something. That's completely anecdotal, by the way, just some weirdness I've seen.

This is why I muted everyone when I played CoD, it saved me from the eternal bitching of 12 year old's yelling "faggot" over the mic.

I used to play Combat Arms, my playing style pissed off alot of people. Liked to hide and ambush other players when they passed me. Oh boy, they didn't like that. I also liked to spam nerve gas, incendiary, and flash grenades.

All the while we had a screaming 15-16 year old repeatedly shouting, "FIFTEEN FUCKING SNIPERS?!?! FIFTEEN FUCKING SNIPERS!!!!"

Really? I mean, I mostly play Portal and Minecrft, but let's make a list. Everyone can list any female roles they can think of and classify them as sexist or non-sexist. I'll start off with a few non-sexist ones. Let's see: Chell from Portal, Alyx Vance, Samus, and what was that person's name from Fallout 3 again?

At the time mario was made, the trope wasn't overused in video games, so it wasn't really sexist. The hundreds of games after that that used it might have been however..

Yeah Princess Peach is really the typical damsel in distress but I think they use it for comedy reason more then anything negative.

Also Princess Zelda is not a damsel because she is a strong and powerful woman in her own ways that make her a better character then link.

Well, not necessarily. High heels are probably a killer, But the Viet Cong, at least, didn't really seem to need armor to survive*, at least some of the time. And your typical sexy female adventurer is more skilled than your typical foot soldier, and generally not facing down the same amount of sheer numbers in terms of attacks.

And let's not forget that in a fantasy world there tend to be a lot of attacks that could, realistically, bypass armor and most "practical" combat gear instantly. That stuff will not help against a fireball, unfortunately.

As for the "absolute cleavage sans bra" bit, I can't, personally, speak to the manageability of breasts, but they can't be any more distracting than bangs. And you can fight with bangs.

*To be clear, that's a Viet Cong Uniform.

Stop talking in absolute terms. Not all games do this. Hell, I'm currently making a game where the female protagonist only has 26 pixels of skin showing. Games are a varied media. Just play the games that aren't sexist.

It's the funnest thing in the world in PvP for six or seven people to be beating on you and you just sit there going "Nanananana BATMAN" and leap out like you own the fucking place.

I admit, I used to entertain myself with my pally in WoW from time to time by playing "how long can I make this fight go on without actually bothering to fight back" (or, even better, "can I manage to WIN this fight while never actually swinging my sword, but just letting my buffs damage them while they beat on me").

That's always fun.
