Just because a good person did something doesn't make it good. Just because a bad person did something doesn't make it bad.

1. I'm quite sure this is common knowledge on NSG.
The problem is that some of those who are wrong think they are among the very few while they are not.

2. I'm quite sure the existence of NSG is not common knowledge, so this information wouldn't be useful at all.

"That there exists such a thing as NSG"?

(We now return you to your regular Summer schedule on NSG - unfettered by all the ignorami currently unaware of its existence, leaving only all those who do.)

Source?

Disney

Well, about the Adolf part, I got it from a cooking show, now it was said that his favourite dish was trout, so I could be wrong on that one.

Rasputin died of drowning and or succumbed to his wounds, gurddammit, not my day honestly.

I thought Rasputin was poisoned.

Fisxheed, Rasputin was not poisoned, the autopsy showed no signs of poison and if the story of the cakes was correct then the cook and Rasputin would have died since cyanide turns to gas when heated.

Yes, well, Wiki sayeth, "The official report of his autopsy disappeared during the Joseph Stalin era, as did several research assistants who had seen it." And forensic science was, shall we say, somewhat less developed back then than it is now. Saying that a 1916 autopsy showed no sign of poison isn't saying much.

some things are easily shown to be true and have been known for years. and yet, somehow, huge swaths of the population either don't know or outright deny them. that strikes me as fundamentally ridiculous. i mean, even things that have been repeatedly discussed in the media are sometimes reported by that same media organization as new and surprising each time. why? what stops some things from sinking in?

for example, marijuana fights cancer. no, seriously. marijuana fights cancer. every time i mention this, nobody believes me. but it's even on the national cancer institute's website. each new study and report on the subject is like a crazy 'whoa!' moment for the media and/or the internet (and possibly society at large?) for exactly two days, then it just washes away. it's weird.

also, i'm interested to see if i'm just as much part of the problem as anyone else. got any other examples of things that should be common knowledge by now but aren't?

It should be common knowledge that no one can.

I'm not saying he did side with one or an organisation early in his career, I'm saying history has been pretty hard on him for doing so, even if he tried his best to sponge it off.

Well, no because that would involve him acknowledging the fact that he was accused of antisemitism. His collegues denied it though, and he hired people from all sorts of backgrounds, so we can only guess.

And it wasn't his, either, by all (possibly urban-legendary) accounts. ;)

(Not read up on the poisoned cakes refutation, but could they have been poisoned after cooking? The contemporary equivalent of a syringe, etc, or just drizzled atop, depending on what type they were... Not wanting to give anyone any ideas (that anyone with that sort of idea wouldn't have already had), of course.)

Rasputin died when he was shot in the forehead from point-blank range, by Lieutenant Oswald Rayner, who was part of the British Secret Intelligence Service.
