I think Orthodox-Catholic relations will be healed. Truth always wins out int he end. But if the papacy was to join the Orthodox church this video explains what will happen.

I doubt we'll ever see two distinct denominations merge, certainly not within our lifetimes, and certainly not two branches so large, distinct, and famous. Leaving aside theology, culture often has much to do with distinctions made.

That said, looking at many of the parishes and local churches where I live, I suspect there's going to be a lot more inter-denominational work in future, at least in places such as the UK where religiosity appears to be declining. While in times of prosperity we have the luxury of choosing our theological positions, at the moment there feels to be a general atmosphere of "wait, bother, there really are a lot of problems here", and that seems to be bringing a lot of churches together. So I wouldn't be surprised to see more rifts becoming less rift-like, even if our divisions never completely go away.

IMHO, at least.

The video lists the innovations Popes have made over the centuries and asserts those innovations must be revoked for the Catholic v Orthodox schism to be healed. So far, so good, but it lists them in the wrong order.

First the Pope must revoke infallibility and revert to the Collegiality of ALL the Bishops, like in the days of Nicaea and Chalcedon. Next, he must revoke Filioque. Then he must restore Communion in both kinds etc.

Wrong order. A simpler way is for Pope to retain infallibility UNTIL he has revoked the other innovations and only then abolish infallibility. If he abolishes infallibility first, then he will have to wait for a synod of RC bishops to restore the original Faith. Everything will be tied up in comite for generations.

What every argument with the random people that come on this forum and decide to start polyesturising feels like:

Anyway, new topic: Fun moments from the Book of Revelation. Discuss.

A personal favorite of mine:
Revelations 14:20. It's about the wicked being killed in a wine press. Quite horrible imagery.

:eyebrow: You have a weird way of praising people.

::shrug:: I don't find having the ability to guilt trip someone offensive, I think it's pretty cool. I've always marveled at the way religious leaders can just make people feel so ashamed with out even really saying it. I am an odd person though.

This part of Revelation:
Revelation 6:8 wrote:and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

It's just generally a memorable line.

Here's a topic, favorite quote, that was one innocent but is now ruined by modern colloquialism.

Which book, chapter, and verse is this? The only thing that comes to mind is the Gospel of Saint Matthew 22:2 (Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.) Is this meant to be a paraphrase of this verse?

Now, what is your favorite Christian song, hymn, or chant.

Here's mine, it's sung at Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday in the Orthodox Church:

How about the entire The Message translation, which while a good option for new believers to use to understand scripture, is devoid of any literary style or poetry.

I love the song "Are You Washed in the Blood?" I'm not sure what it is about it, I'm just drawn to it.
I'm also a big fan of the Canticle of the Turning.

Essentially yes it's a paraphrase, of Luke 19, but someone pranked a church sign with this saying, and I being immature, everytime I read Luke 19 or Mathew 21 can't help but think this.
