It seems in Texas, they are confiscating tampons and pads if you want to enter the senate gallery. They are afraid women might throw them at the legislature when they vote to significantly restrict women's rights in the area of reproduction.

TSS is really, really rare. As far as period-related worries go, "getting bitten by a shark that was attracted to your blood" is more likely. (And if you avoid the "super" tampons, your odds of ever getting TSS drop even more.) So, something to look forward to once you move out.

Oh heavens, yes. Even if we exclude all the societies of the world that still explicitly declare menstruating women to be sinful and unclean, the number of people in modern, first-world nations who have meltdowns when anything related to menstruation comes up is absurd. We still have commercials bragging about how "discreet" tampon packaging is, because god forbid the woman two stalls over hear you opening a tampon and think, "OMG THE WOMAN NEXT TO ME IS MENSTRUATING, OH NOES, SHOCKING." I've seen guys freak out about even walking into the aisle at the drugstore where the tampons are. We are fucking weird about this shit.
