No, it's not that. It's because he shoves his religion down everyone's throats.

I watch football for the game, not for some Christian to preach how godly he is.

Note: Before someone accuses me of being a butthurt Atheist, Polomalu is devoutly religious, and I love the guy! Thing is, 1.) he actually practices Christian morals and 2.) he keeps it to himself.

There are plenty of other players that thank God after the game in postgame interviews. Heck, many players from each side go to kneel and pray before/after (can't remember which) the game together, and it's shown on live TV. There was even a Broncos player two weeks ago that recited the same statement that Timmy said to a reporter after the first question was asked.

How is what Tebow did any different?

At this point, I don't think any QB that doesn't have game experience this year would help anyone. Except if the team needed a seat on the bench filled. So, no Tebow for 2013.

I think it might work, but coaching staffs in NFL squads are as stubborn and stuck in their way as MLB managers that want nothing to do with Sabermetrics. They won't change anything about the way they style their game unless something's seriously wrong with their team. Then, if the change makes the team better, they'll only stick with it until it fails once. Then it's back to "old-school football."

How long do you think Chip Kelly is going to last in Philly?

Maybe 3 years to prove himself. Philly is a harsh city when it comes to sports and driving.

But, I am really not that knowledgeable when it comes to football. This is the first season I have followed closely since I was in my early teens...over a decade ago. I'm just getting back in, and spent the afternoon reading about old offense styles to see any of them matched up with my dream offense...the mean team, mentioned above, haha.

Obviously if a single wing offense was going to implemented I wouldn't do it in the middle of the season...or maybe I would, ha! Seems like something that would need more time than a week to train for and recruit for.

Aaron caught it.

Aaron fucking caught it.

Eighteen years later, and I still remember, clear as day: Aaron caught the goddamn ball.

That was a pretty clear ruffling of the ball, but it didn't seem to leave contact, and he seemed to have retained possession. Thats... A catch?

Even though he gained weight in the offseason prior to playing for the Jets in order for them to use him in a different position, only to be told, "Yeah, we aren't going to do that anymore," and be relegated to the bench. Okay. Whatever.

And, by your own admission, even though many other NFL players act the "very same way," you don't like HIM in particular.

Hokay.

Honestly, part of it is that he's an outspoken Christian, but a big part of it is that he wasn't supposed to have done all the things he did while on the Broncos. He wasn't even supposed to be drafted very highly, or at all.

Then suddenly Kyle Orton's Broncos go 1-4, Tebow steps in, they suddenly go on a run and everybody freaks out. It's like Lin-sanity, except for the newcomer being an unheralded player, the guy was this QB that was a monster, that tons of hardware in Div. 1, but was supposed to go nowhere in the NFL.

That he's still a lightning rod is probably more of a function of there not being a "proper" end to the story. With Lin-sanity, teams realized Lin was weak to the left side of the basket, and then stopped him. With Tebow, he won a playoff game in a postseason, then was traded to a team that literally just used him as a benchwarmer, even when their own starting quarterback (and the entire franchise) was nothing more than a laughingstock.

Again, the Steelers as a team are one of the most religious out there. The only players I know who aren't outspoken Christians are Keisel, Cam Heyward and Ike Taylor. I could care less though, because not a single one shoves it in people's faces.

Defenses are too big and fast today to run a single-wing or T-form today. Back before 1965 or so (when passing in NFL and College starting evolving into the dominant form of offense); you could get away with running it because the players were smaller and relatively slower. The average OL back then was like 6'2" 260, now QBs are that big.

Picking time for Week 13, yay!

Packers @ Lions: Oh man, the Packers without Rodgers are just plain meh. The Lions need to put their foot down against their rivals this thanksgiving if they wish to remain relevant; I think they do so here against the inadequate Packers defense. Lions by 10.

Raiders @ Cowboys: There'll be basketball games on when this game is being played, right? Oh sweet Jesus please tell me there'll be basketball.

Ugh...

Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Titans all but ended the Raiders' season last week, while Romo and the 'Boys slammed the Giants' playoff door shut. Romo will be slicing the Raiders secondary up for thanksgiving, as the Cowboys cruise to an easy 17 point win.

Steelers @ Ravens: Whoever wins this game gets a HUGE boost, while the loser will drown their sorrows in leftover stuffing. Steelers-Ravens games are almost always decided by 3 points or so, so expect this game to come down to the wire, especially when a trip to the big dance is on the line. Still, i'm going with the team who is on a hot streak here; Steelers by 3.

Totally not fan bias.

#HereWeGoSteelers

Dolphins @ Jets: Geno Smith has been doing his best Mark Sanchez impression lately. After making fools of themselves in Baltimore, the Jets really should start looking at drafting some help for Smith's squad. Miami, meanwhile, still looks decidingly average. I don't trust their O and D lines, and I'm probably making a dumb decision here to go with the Jets anyways. Jets by 6.

Cardinals @ Eagles: Why on earth does Philly play way better outside of the city of brotherly love? Anyways, teams coming off an idle week have been playing like poo lately, and the Cardinals are red hot. Expect Fitzgerald to carve up the worst secondary in the league. Cardinals by 7.

Patriots @ Texans: Super Bowl? More like Super Bums. The Texans are playing absolutely putrid football, the latest being an embarrassment at home by the Jaguars! The Patriots, meanwhile, continue to do their thing. Patriots by 17.

Bears @ Vikings: The Vikings would like nothing more than to end the Bears hopes and dreams in Minneapolis. I doubt that the Bears, as bad as their defense has been, will falter to a subpar Vikings team when they know full well what's a stake. Bears by 7.

Jaguars @ Browns: *Vomits*

Browns by who cares.

Titans @ Colts: The Colts season looks like it's been penned by Robert Louis Stevenson. I think the Good Colts show up Sunday and smack around the Titans. Colts by 13.

Buccaneers @ Panthers: This game has "trap" written all over it. The Buccaneers are playing for pride and jobs now, and they certainly could trip up a Panthers team looking forward to a date with the Saints. Still, I think the Panthers take care of business with a 10 point win.

49ers @ Rams: Has anyone ever met a Rams fan? Like seriously, I've met Jaguars and Cards fans, but never a single Rams fan.

Anyways, the Rams know their rivals well, but the Niners are busy thinking about getting back to the Big Game. 49ers avoid a trap game by winning by 12.

Falcons @ Bills: How the mighty have fallen. Once picked to win the NFC's top seed, the Falcons would be picking first in the draft if the season ended today. The Bills, meanwhile, are slowly and steadily building up a future playoff team. Bills take care of business in Toronto, winning by 7.

Broncos @ Chiefs: Man, the loss of Houston and Hali really put a hurting on the Chiefs' defense. The shine is coming off for the NFL's Cinderella story, and I think Peyton will chew a lacking Chiefs defense to pieces. Broncos by 10.

Broncos are still overrated.

Bengals @ Chargers: I expect the Bengals to bungle after being idle, while the Chargers were shocking the world (no pun intended). The Bolts must defend their playoff hopes, and the Bengals are infamous for slacking when they get comfortable. Chargers by 3.

Giants @ Redskins: Remember when these two teams were picked to battle it out for the division? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

The Redskins defense is atrocious, RG3 is turning into a diva and the Giants lost all respect after last week's pantsing by the Cowboys.

Giants stumble to an ugly win here, by 4 points.

Saints @ Seahawks: When the NFL's collective fanbase is done using eye bleach after the horrid Giants-Redskins game, they get to watch perhaps the best game of the year so far. The Saints, I think, are still the best of the NFC, but beating the Seahawks in Seattle?

Eh, that's quite a tall order.

Seahawks by 3.

1. Uh, they're 23rd in the league in rushing. I mean, that's not good, but they're top 15 in every other category. A minor hole, but it ain't gonna keep them out of New York.
2. Yeah, no shit. The Steelers would be fucked without Ben. The Pats would be fucked with Brady. The Packers are already fucked with Rodgers. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Looks like Devito is going to going to be able to play, which will bring that Chiefs defensive line back up to full strength! A couple of the starting offensive lineman that were out with injuries are also expected to start!

Houston is out, but Hali just may start! If there's any chance of Hali re-injuring his ankle I'd rather him sit this one out so he can back back at 100% for the end of the season and potentially the playoffs. Hopefully Houston will be back in the next two weeks or so.

One could theoretically consider that Tebow has already been shut down on the field. The best teams have adapted and produced countermeasures against people like Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson. I can't imagine Tebow doing any better than either of them, these days.

Back before 1965 or so (when passing in NFL and College starting evolving into the dominant form of offense); you could get away with running it because the players were smaller and relatively slower. The average OL back then was like 6'2" 260, now QBs are that big.

Well, get bigger and faster guys. I'd love to see this implemented and be successful! It would be a blast from the past for sure.

it wont be successful, that has been my point about it. The single-wing CANNOT WORK in the current game. You would need a 5 o-line men to be 6'8" 375 with 4.75 speed; 3 running backs 6'5" 275 with 4.45 speed, a pair of 6'7" 240 with 4.35 speed TE/WR and a 6'6" 235, with 4.50 speed at QB.
