Clandestine abortions kill at least 20.000 Latin American women each year. Illegal abortions' toxic consequences are the main reason of request for surgeries in the Brazilian Public Health System.

My grandmother that raised me was almost one of those deaths, and I, a middle class contemporary world person, wouldn't be here now (because without her, I could, say, had killed myself, or had been gun shot, due to various reasons). Her nature-projected 3rd and 4th children were rejected by my gone grandfather, and they would be even in more poverty than they already were. They would be born in the most catastrophic decades for Brazilian economy, when heroin was still a problem and HIV/AIDS was starting to appear (and the use of the first caused the infection by the latter, that took the live of the adoptive brother of my grandma). Would probably experience undernourishment and violence.

Clearly all those lives are more important than, say, 200 million fetuses. I'd rather be more concerned with animal suffering. BTW, when will all this madness with other primates and cetaceans for fake scientific purposes stop? They're clearly way more 'human' than 16th week fetuses.

A woman is perfectly capable of deciding whether or not she wants a child and if doctors tell her the child will be seriously disabled, who the hell is the government to tell her she must have that child because abortion is wrong. If she doesn't want that child then help her damn it! She is scared and doesn't want the burden of it.

She can give the child up for adoption if she doesn't want the child. The child gets to enjoy its precious life that way.

The only reason people voted 'Yes' was because the California death machine was constipated. Frankly, this could all be solved by going back to the gas chamber, which for all practical intents and purposes is less cruel than lethal injection. Also, upstate Nevada is hella better than Oklahoma, especially since Nevada is basically East California.

I've struck out part I'm not going to reply to. There are enough threads already debating pro-life/pro-choice.

You are against the death penalty because death is never the answer to crime. That doesn't mean anything much to me. It's like if I said "I'm against eating meat, because killing an animal is never the answer to hunger". It begs the question: if I though killing an animal was sometimes the answer to hunger, I wouldn't be against eating meat. (Not that I am, it's just an example).

For the sake of simplicity, let us assume the accused person did certainly commit the crime, and the crime is one the death penalty is commonly applicable to, like premeditated murder.

Actually, don't kill me, but... I'm pro-life and for the death penalty. Criminals deserve to be killed, babies don't. And everyone's gonna launch into a long scientific explanation about how it isn't killing babies, and all that science I've heard a million times. To you, it seems okay. To me, no. Go ahead, have an abortion. I don't care. I can't stop you, it's a free country. But I still don't like it. As for capital punishment, well, obviously Hitler would be an exception... But anyways, an eye for an eye, buddy.
