Opinions on Barack Obama

Barack Obama has created quite an interesting situation in US politics. The days of high hopes of change and progress that catapaulted him to the Presidency are long gone in a time when the nation is deeply divided over America's first black President. The GOP refuses to work with him, the Democrats would defend him to the end of time. Political deadlock has been caused over incredibly divise policies.

As such, the approval rating of him has mostly been around 50% during his Presidency. Although it is not over yet, battle lines have been drawn for 2016 and many have formulated complex opinions on why Obama is a political saint/evil communist.

I personally have very mixed opinions on the man. I'm frustrated by his foreign policy weakness, expansion of government and archaic economic policies, but admire his warmth as a person, his genuine dedication to solving America's problems and efforts at tackling the gun debate.

Andrew Jackson was worse in my opinion, but then again. . .having a inability to do the job, doing it badly, and ignoring major issues while playing politics in times of economic depravity is kind of a low blow.

I feel he has been over hyped, drone strikes haven't stopped, operation fast and furious has not been investigated, expanded the domestic spying ect ect. He hasn't really changed too much except he is more charismatic than GW Bush and smarter.

Eh, he's not the best, but he is getting some stuff done. America is in slightly better shape than when he was originally elected except the government as a whole is much more incompetent nowadays.

If he wasn't such a bad diplomat I'd have a much higher opinion of him, but quite frankly, he's bad at it and his Sec. of State isn't any better.

What a wasted presidency so far. I believe in taking steps to a national heath care system, but it doesn't take a financial genius to understand that you have to get your economy going and have the ability to pay down the country's debt before expanding government in such a way. The he gets reelected with hopes of pushing the economy forward & what does he do? Push a leftest gun control policy down our throats. He deserves to be hated by the right the way the left hated Bush. Another 8 years without any real economic progress, just bullshit social policy that only half the county can agree with.

The actual left (think Green Party and further left) doesn't like Obama either. The Democrats haven't been anywhere near left since before Reagan.

This. He's a breath of fresh air after Bush (which isn't saying much...), but in all honesty the fact that the Republicans are hounding him means he's not really in a position to do something amazing.

History will judge him decently. He's in the middle.
