You just had to repost this thread. You just had to. Eh, might as well give my opinion.

I do believe 100% that there is a God.

You can examine various factors as well as historical evidence to come to the conclusion that it is basically false. True, you can't say with absolute certainty, but that goes for everything.

So, in the end, everyone just has to make their own opinion on every religion? :eyebrow:

The burden of proof isn't on those who refute the claims, but on those that make them.

Are you pro-God? In which case, we would've demolished your "serious reply" anyway.

Or religion in general, once you understand the historical purpose and/or the psychological causes for belief in a god.

Well, you don't have to.

There's no reason you have to assume ANY of the stories are at all meaningful.

Objectively, that's probably the most logical default - don't even worry about the possibility that any of them might be true until they start presenting evidence equal to the scale of the claims they make.

Of course, a statement of belief doesn't really answer the question "Does God Exist".

Because it's therapeutic? That's one of the reasons I'm religious, which is in part as a way of dealing with depression, anxiety, and flashbacks.

Admittedly, mainly the latter.

Faith requires doubt. faith is acknowledging and overcoming doubt.

There's a reason why we say "choose to believe."

I don't believe that though. As for why I believe in God, mainly because I want to and because I like my religion, but also so that I will not burn in Hell for eternity.

I'm not seeing how willful delusion is therapeutic.

There are lots of advantages, at least for me, but it obviously differs depending on the person. If it's not for you, it's not for you. No shame in that. If it is, it is. No shame in that either.

There's something that saddens me about the fact that you believe in your religion (partially) because you wish to escape damnation.
