South America vs, Western Europe (Trouble)

Postby Rio Cana » Wed Jul 03, 2013 3:03 pm

The President of Bolivia was at a gas conference in Russia. So while going back home his airplane was suppose to stop for refueling in Portugal. The Portuguese said No. So they flew to France but the French said no. So they ended up refueling in Austria. The Presidential airplane was subjected to a 10 hour delay since they started searching the Presidential plane for that US whistleblower who is currently in Russia.

Story from CNN - http://edition.cnn.com/2013/07/02/world ... +Recent%29

So it seems when the US pulls the chain Western Europe jumps. :o

The French later gave an excuse that they did not know it was President Morales airplane. That if they had known firsthand that it was that he could have stopped to refuel.

Argentinas President said this was an great insult to the whole continent of South America. Tomorrow, there will be a meetings of South American nations on this matter. You got to admit that searching Presidential planes seems to be a violation of diplomatic protocal.

I think Western Europe really dropped the ball on this one. The EU. considers South America very important when it comes to pulling the EU. out of its economic problems via trade. But things like this only push South America further toward Asia. Smart going Europe.

The following is the Bolivian Presidential airplane

Image

The presidential plane of Bolivia is a FAB 001

That airplane is
small and lacking fuel autonomy
which means unlike most other nations Presidential planes which have extended range thus no need to refuel, this airplane has to refuel. President Morales could buy a larger airplane but he does not want to waste the peoples money on such things.

Edit - Error fixed. See Spoiler

The above airplane is no longer used by the President of Bolivia. He now uses a Falcon Dassault 900. It cost $30 Million Euros. It can go 10 hours without refueling. Seems before this Bolivia use to have to ask neighboring nations to loan them an airplane which they used to fly the President to other nations.

They should've stopped in a country that supports Snowden :p

But seriously they shouldn't have searched the plane, that's ridiculous. I bet the U.S pressured the countries to do so.

Anyways Morales has been very mad about it, and though it was not right that they refused to refuel his plane, and searched it, he may have made to big of a deal about it.

You do know Bolivia is the third richest nation when it comes to mineral resources in the Americas. First is the US and Mexico is second. They also have oil and gas. Something which Chile and Uruguay seem to lack.

A number of countries that rejected Bolivia's refuel request explained that they reacted to rumours Edward Snowden was 'on board'.
How is that possible, when the plane went no where near Moscow's Airport, where Snowden remains located now.

I know. Sort of a sick humor on my part. I have a bunch of Bolivian friends, and they always hate on Chile and Uruguay. You know, historical differences and all. I was simply making an (unfunny to you, funny to me) joke. :)

1.There's no aircraft model called FAB 001. You're mixing its designation in the Bolivian Air Force (FAB) with the model.
2.It really looks like a Beechcraft 1900. The FAB owns one of those. Oh and by the way, in 2001 it costed about 5 million US$. If mr.Morales actually cared that much about saving money, he'd have the Bolivian government buy tickets for himself and his staff on an common airliner.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beechcraft_1900

With a range of 707 km on full load (19 people) and a ferry range of 2306 km (ferry range means with no payload and minimum crew!), it's IMPOSSIBLE to use that aircraft to cross the Atlantic. So, I wonder
a) how this aircraft actually arrived to Europe, and for what purpose... if it actually did.
b) how this aircraft was actually able to fly around Europe, for claimed distances actually greater than 707 km...
c) whether your source has actually any credibility, considering the bullshit they're spewing about the aircraft, which is the point of the issue.

I know Bolivia and Chile do not get along but I do not think they have any problems with Uruguay which does not even border Bolivia.

Both nations seem to have good ties.
Bolivia will gain access to Atlantic ports in Uruguay in exchange for a pledge of natural gas exports to Montevideo in an agreement signed in La Paz by presidents Evo Morales and José Mujica.

There is an organization which was created some time back called URPOBOL. It consists of Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia. Created since together they could better negotiate against the there big neighbors Argentina and Brazil.

The European Union will never be pulled out of its economic troubles, no matter how much 'help' they are offered. The nations that are now imprisoned by the European Union will know no real improvement until the European Union is gone. And let's hope that happens before we descend into social unrest and poverty.

Oh, and on this issue - don't take the opinion of our leaders as our opinions. They're so far up in their ivory tower, they can't see us through the clouds.

The Bolivian President's plane is likely either a Rockwell Sabreliner or a Dassault Falcon 900, both of which have the necessary range to cross the Atlantic. Although I must laugh at the idea that the President of Argentina, well known for making nonsensical rants, calls the incident an "insult to South America". Clearly, she hasn't consulted a mirror ever since she that that botox injected so that her fish-eyed husband would take down the sign on the front door of the Casa Rosada which said "here be witches".

Really? An insult to all of South America? That's like saying that not letting Castro refuel is an insult to all of the Carribean.
