For the record, the FAiL isn't the West's version of the AK. Funny thing is the FAiL gets points knocked off because it has an Imperial and Metric model which means parts can be confusing to find.

The AR-18 is the Western AK, if there even is any such thing.

Comparing a Battle Rifle to an Assault Rifle after certain points like comparing apples to oranges. Sure they are both round, taste good and are a fruit, but after that you begin to diverge away from the two.

The AK can be produced from shovels, left over parts and pieced together from different AK parts from different nations. You can drop an AK on its magazine, pick it up, empty it and the next four you have in your pouch and still use food fat to lubricate it's internals and motor oil to lube the barrel with your boot laces.

The FAL is a good rifle as is the G3, however those two are outclassed in terms of weight, usability and ease of production by the AK.

Also, do you know the modern battlefield's engagement range is under 300 meters? Its been like this since before World War 2. The max most armies train with modern assault rifles is to 400-500 meters with iron sights, farther with the use of optics. Under 300 meters bullet drop doesn't mean shit. Accuracy starts to not really matter when you use an AK or AR.

Also AR does little damage If you shoot someone with a 5.56x45mm round, 9/10 they will go down with at least an "ow".

This isn't a game or shooting wood targets 100 meters away.

I meant on terms of use 90 different nations used them. It was the right arm of the free world & from knowledge my dad a Rhodesian/South African used the FAL,G3,AK. He was in the Rhodesian bush war, South African Border war. Hes said time & time again only the FAL & G3 had that type of stopping power. But he said they were extremely heavy i own both & just one mag & the gun its self is not for the faint of heart. But you want something that WILL without a doubt reach out and touch someone & kill its the FAL or G3. & its not a FAiL its FAL...

Then shit, someone should tell those people killed by the 5.56x45mm, 7.62x39mm, and 5.45x39mm round to stop being pussies and get killed by a real round.

Especially those pussies killed by the AK from 300-500 meters. They should really man-up. Though it can be debated that everyone ever killed by the 5.56x45mm round are just failures at life.

The US in Vietnam should have manned up and kept the M14, as they apparently totally never won any military battles with those pea-shooter M-16s.

Yup.

FAiL is winrar.

Problems that do not plague the A2 model and, despite the reputation in the media, actually still made the A1 a more reliable firearm in desert conditions than the M16 platform.

Never said that, but early on it had some of the worst problems and rifle could have.

Never said that, but early on it had some of the worst problems and rifle could have.

It jammed in dusty/sandy conditions and had a dodgy mag release button.
These are problems that have plagued most rifle platforms over the years.

It was the special forces variant, it is between and assault rifle and submachine gun.

No, it was just a carbine. Not 'special forces' variant.

Mostly used by special forces, and marines in the Ukraine.

Wikipedia wrote:It was intended for use mainly with special forces, airborne infantry, rear-echelon support units and armored vehicle crews. It is still used in these roles, but has been augmented by various submachine guns, and the AK-105. It is also commonly used by law enforcement; for example, each urban police foot patrol is issued at least one.

Yeah, it's just a carbine, like the M4.

then yes ive tried it it was nothing really that fancy when i had it just lighter and smaller than its big brother the ak 47 also less accurate but its a cqc weapon so thats expected there are better cqc weapons out there but its not too bad i liked that it was simple to use and effective enough for its class it is a bit on the uglier side and that's a downer for me overall it fairly descent and better than nothing the ak family has actually aged pretty well compared to some other guns its very good for a gun thats over 50 years old however it was a rip off of a German wwII gun called stg 44 if you look very closely at it youll see that they are very similar

Doesn't make it a "special forces variant".
It was mostly liked for its short length. Most people who were issued with it - truck drivers for example - actually didn't like it. They'd try and get their hands on the full-sized AKS-74 if they could, while others tried to acquire Stetchkin machine pistols instead.

As of going to a gun show earlier today I'll revise my thoughts on the AKM and AR-15. I was lucky to be able to handle both, to me the AR-15 felt really good in my hands. I could move it around and I just had to readjust the stock quickly and move the foregrip closer to myself and it was a perfect fit. I was also able to handle an AKM, AK-103, and a Misr and I personally felt a little awkward handling it. Not as bad the awkwardness of the Betetta 92 but still awkward. I however find the AK-103 to be a very good weapon. It was just a nice weapon I have no real way to put it corectly. But like the AR-15 for ersional reasons.
