Of course, for most of the history of the planet, we didn't exist. And anyway, selection bias much? The universe is old. There are plenty of older planets. And we're young. If sentient dinosaurs had evolved and hadn't been wiped out, here's a calculation: Humanity took 1 or 2 million years to evolve into our current form. A further 25000 years went by before we developed writing. In the next 5000 years look at our progress.

Assume that sentient raptors took double the time for all of these things and started at the time of the extinction event that happened in reality. 65 million -4 million to evolve = 61 million. Subtract 60000 from that and you have around 60 million years. You could make the raptors take 10 times longer for everything and they would still be much more advanced than us.

We have no evidence of races 60 million years more advanced than us.

If there is more-advanced life out there, it's either so far away we'll never find it, deliberately avoiding us, or it's been and gone... probably millions of years ago.

And since there's no evidence at all of more-advanced aliens, the most logical assumption is that any life that IS out there (if any), is less advanced than us. (After all, it's statistically VERY unlikely it would be within thousands of years of our level).

Feel free to explain how your "most logical assumption" is logical in the least bit.

Also, to claim something is statistically unlikely you should probably show some statistics. Except we don't have data. So there are no statistics. Why shouldn't another species be "close" to the same level as us?

I don't see why we'd need a moonbase. We're not running out of materials that urgently, and if we assemble in space we don't need to deal with even the moon's gravity.

Technically, I'd imagine we could do it within the century, maybe within fifty years. The political and social aspects, however, won't let us do it within the next millenium.

it also takes even less energy to get from Mars to LEO.
Also for something gravity is a good thing, humans do not do well without gravity for prolonged periods.

Considering the age of the universe itself, the human race might be one of the more advanced races to exist. I think that other intelligent lifeforms are possibly a rarity. I'd say maybe 10-20 intelligent races are out there in the Milky Way galaxy alone. Most of them are probably primitive.

Also on people who say things like "UFO's" do you even know what a UFO is? unidentified flying object. Therefore, if you saw something the sky and say it's a flying saucer, then you identified it, so it's no unidentified anymore. It's really a military term and has been coined with alien spacecraft in popular fiction. I can't believe we have people claiming they are "Ufologists".
