What I'm having a hard time understanding is that how people on the street automatically know you're a homosexual.

Denmark has all these anti-discrimination laws. Denmark has a lot of discrimination. What part of this do you not understand?

You can't just legislate people's prejudices away. Laws aren't magic. And it's clear in the case of Denmark that these laws have backfired.

Or maybe it's slowly destroying the moral fabric of society and undermining the efforts of our Armed Forces. Denmark has also cut back on its social welfare net lately, coincidence? I think not.

" Denmark provides one of the highest degrees of liberty in the world for its LGBT community."

It's probably safe to say homophobia in Denmark is a rare occurrence.

Not really:

30% of 13-16 y.o. don't think it's OK to be gay. Hate crimes happen more often than expected.

http://politiken.dk/debat/analyse/ECE1168156/homofobi-har-mange-ansigter/

Every third homosexual in Sweden have experiences hate crimes. No reason to believe the number is lower in Denmark.
Der er et stort antal overfald. I Sverige er det hver tredje homoseksuel, der har oplevet et hate crime. Der er ingen grund til at tro, at tallet skulle være lavere i Danmark.

http://www.lgbt.dk/247/

4% of all victims of violence say that the motive was homophobia or transphobia.

http://www.dkr.dk/hadforbrydelser

From 2009 to 2011 sexuality as a motivation in hate crimes increased from 5.6% of all registered hate crimes (via 9% in 2010) to 6%.
https://www.pet.dk/Nyheder/2013/~/media/Forebyggende%20sikkerhed/RACI-rapporter/RACIRapport2011pdf.ashx

Most hate crimes go unreported. While around 12.000 Danes reported that they had been subjected to an attack in 2008 which they claimed were motivated by their ethnicity or sexuality, only 134 cases were reported by the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET).

Oh yes. Good 'ol Jimmy. He's the premier authority on gay rights in Denmark if I recall correctly.

That was one example from someone who've visited the bar in question. For authorities, scroll up.

How? There's nothing to suggest that anti-discrimination laws have backfired. On the contrary, they seem to be working well. It's clear that the situation is Denmark is better than in most of the world. The situation is still not good enough, however - there's still work to be done.

I mean, I have to guess that you were acting obnoxious for people to notice that you are a homosexual, in which case maybe you were nearly denied a seat on your plane for being disruptive rather than actually being gay.

Just like if I enacted a law saying it's illegal to be gay, you'll suddenly stop being homosexual? Please.

I remember Reconstruction in the United States only prolonged racist feelings and the constant efforts to uplift blacks and punish whites created a large bloc of racist voters and politicians.

If you leave it alone, it'll resolve itself. The barrel of the gun doesn't change people's fundamental beliefs. I'm sure laws prevented the Viet Cong from destroying SVN or the Taliban from continuing their insurgency.

Except in one of the supposedly meccas of gay rights, there's a lot of discrimination. Making it illegal to hate gays only makes the people that hate gays hate them more. People should have an open dialogue instead of promoting politically correct nonsense.
