LARPing vs forum roleplaying. which is better.

Post your thoughts below. Personally I think both have their merits, forum role playing has more possibility and you don't need costumes, but LARPing adds more action.

I find LARPers to be a bit silly, honestly.

OP you should add more so the mods don't lock this.

I've never done a LARP though I'd imagine if it were well-organized and with people who share my interests, it'd be a hella cool time.

Thought so. I would google it but I am on a 4 year old netbook that lags if I have more than 2 tabs open.... Yeah...

On topic: My only experience with LARPing is that Supernatural episode. I believe that as a concept it is really cool but as a real thing it is dorky and gay on the lameness scale

Threads with one-sentence Opening Posts get locked on sight. Perhaps you could tell us what LARPing is and what your opinions are? I personally would rather sit in a nice, comfortable chair to role-play than go spending money for costumes and accouterments that I'll use maybe twice a year.

The two are quite different and rather incomparable.

LARPing definetly, because when I say I'm Snorri Haraldson, I need to look like Snorri the Scourge of the Westland, Herald of Death, Drinker of Aldermenblood, Eater of Hearts, Punishment of God, Breaker of Spirits, ...

Each is only as good as the people who play them.

LARPing is, generally speaking, more focused on comedy than NSRP is. That's not to say that NSRP can't be funny (NSH is a testament to that), but LARP without comedy is like a subwoofer without woof.

You do not have to spend money to LARP. On the other hand, you do have to spend money to NSRP, unless you are using a public internet pool.

I'm just happy civil war reenacting isn't defined as LARPing. :p
(Mainly because we actually use real weapons)
