Do you know someone who might be a White Protestant of English ancestry, report them to your block Sargeant CM, and he will drag them before the New House Committee on Un-American Activities. Report your neighbors.Conserative Morality wrote:Is accusing someone of being a WASP likely to damage their reputation?.... I openly admit that I use it disparagingly. Something about the mentality of the group referred to being rather contrary to American values.

The weirdest thing I have encountered on a repeated basis is something that happens usually about two or three times a year while I'm in bed. I'll be lying in bed, eyes closed, and generally relaxed. It only happens then and only when I'm on the verge of falling asleep. As I'm lying there, I'll suddenly feel a massive weight thrust onto my abdomin, as though someone as jumped onto me or thrown a large object on me. It is a very bried sensation, vanishing as soon is it appears, though I always feel it in the same place and it always happens in the same time. Personally I've always assumed it was muscle spasms, though it always is rather unnerving in the middle of the night.
Despite dabbling in the occult on a near daily basis during my Wiccan phase, I can't say anything terribly unusual happened that I can't explain easily.

The heavy oak table they had placed the Board on began to levitate about 3-6 inches off the ground when they asked something to the effect of "Who is this?" to the Board and their dog proceeded to become very nervous at this, progressing into growling and barking at something that was in another room of the basement. Queue six very frightened teenagers charging up out of the basement screaming about ghosts and demons to their parents. Past this, my mother, aunts, and uncles can remember little except their father checked the basement, and finding nothing assumed his children were playing a prank on him.
Regardless, he still brought a Crucifix from church on Easter Sunday to the house and placed it over a doorway in the "cursed" room where the Ouija Board had been used, since everybody that entered the basement ended up feeling a sense of what my mother described as "badness." The Board was thrown into the trash and burned the day following the, ah, "incident."
I personally hated that basement whenever I visited the house. The feeling that there was something inherently wrong with it seemed to hang around me, no matter the time of day or who I was with. This was well before I learned about the mishap with the Ouija Board and I wasn't much frightened of the dark. I still get that lingering sense of dread when I have to go down the steep flight of stairs into that basement.

Inyourfaceistan wrote:My first is a warm, happy feeling story.
I was maybe 12 or so, and I had woken up early on a Saturday morning. The sun was bright, and I mean brighter than usual, but not overbearing. It was also just to cold to sit outside, but the sunshine made it enjoyable to sit in the kitchen table. I was eating my bowl of cereal when I felt a familiar-feeling cat brush up against my leg. It gave me a warm and cozy feeling inside, and I reached down to pet it, not knowing which cat it was (I had two cats at the time). However, it was gone, so I looked under the table and there was nothing there. I walked into the kitchen and living room and looked under all the furniture but found nothing. One was sleeping on my brothers bed and the other had been outside under the car all night.
The next, might seem trivial but freaks me the fuck out to this day.
I was driving home from rugby practice, late after we had a post-practice social at B&D Burgers. I drove down the highway, and my head was cluttered with everything; from girl problems to school problems to car problems. I pulled off the highway and saw a dark silhouette of a figure in the corner of my eye, but I didn't make anything of it. However, the man (presumably) was gone as a rounded the turn and came closer. The nearby gas station was empty, but the lights were on. I drove on and I saw the shadow of someone running beside me. It disappeared after a few seconds as I drove back into the shadow. It was a humid and warm spring night but I was shivering cold even in a hot shower... Spooks the fuck out of me today...

Your name is Zack? Or was it random? And why did you sleep in the backyard?

These are just hypnagogic hallucinations and are quite common. Having experienced them, i would now never trust anyone's account of supernatural events if they were in bed at the time or had been drowsy.
I used to have a lot of them at one time and they can be really lifelike and scary. I've been woken up with someone calling my name, felt someone in my bed cuddling me from behind when noone was really there. Felt someone climbing over my body to get out of bed, felt the bed dip with the pressure and looked up to see myself walking out of the roomI have also had cats fall on my bed from out of nowhere

Some of these episodes seemed to go on for ages and I would get out of bed walk around, watch tv and do stuff quite normally until something weird would happen, like a demon forming in the corner of the room...which is when I would realise I was having a lucid dream and would either play about with the dream or force myself to wake up.
The creepiest bit of all is the inability to know whether you are awake or asleep or not. I tried pinching my arm but I would feel the pain even if I was asleep. Eventually I found that if I told myself to levitate ...and I could...I was probably asleep

I was at a friend's house watching that scene in The Matrix with the cat and the explanation of how deja vu was actually a glitch in the Matrix, and remarked to my friend that I just had deja vu, and he said it might be that someone was actually messing with it.
A few months after that, I watched The Matrix for the first time in my life.
