Exactly.

China, Cuba (debatable), Belarus...

Really? You'd call these countries something other than shitty and underdeveloped? Despite all the corruption, the poverty, the pollution (in China's case), the isolation, the living standards...

Find me a SINGLE country in which is 1) developed, 2) has a gun ban or a near complete gun ban.... AND has this embarrassing statistic (over 80% of homicides in 2005 or any year happen involving firearms). You won't find any.

CLEARLY... America has the highest proportion of gun crimes.

Tell me a single other developed country that has over 80% of their homicides done with GUNS. You won't find a single one.

Find me a single actual source for this nonsense. Find a single reputatable source(Wikipedia is NOT reputable) then we might actually believe this.

Actually, Wikipedia is considerably more reputable that most online sources.

I think that the US adopting stricter gun laws would help the problem but it wouldn't solve it completely and it would just create a lot of angst in more gun-loving states. I think that a world without guns is just my fantasy and it looks like its gonna stay that way.

It is really funny, the way you throw these numbers around.

Pointing out that the US has a high gun violence rate...

OK, anything new? What do you people expect? Did anyone even bother to look up the fact that there are over 300 million individually owned firearms in the US? It's exactly like saying: "OMG! Look! The UK has a vehicular accident rate 100 times that of Ethiopia! Gee, I wonder why that is!!!"

Assuming a different gun was used for each and every gun-related crime, what percent of guns was used in crimes again?

You say that, but what if someone was going for a Tosca thing and swapped the prop for a real...*checks*...vaguely AK looking thing with a drum mag to trick Feinstein into mowing down the audience.

And civilians won't. So outlaws can walk up to the civilians, shoot them dead, and get away long before the police arrive. If the civilians have guns, they can fight back and either kill the outlaws or hold out until the police arrive.

They can't, though. If someone wants to walk up to you in the street and shoot you dead, no amount of having a gun will help unless you have started shooting them before they have started shooting you, in which case you're the one walking up to them and shooting them dead. If you want people to be able to survive random shootings you should be advocating the wearing of bulletproof body armour at all times.
