Value of virginity and slut-shaming

Virginity has always been valued; this is old news. Humans, especially women, have generally been expected to remain chaste until marriage. An increasing number of public schools and private schools teach abstinence.

When women, and sometimes men, choose to be rather sexually active they are considered sluts, whores, and other degrading terms. This is known as slut shaming. See here for a definition.

So, NSG, what do you think of this? Do you value virginty? What do you think of slut-shaming?

I think how one values virginity is up to them. I may want to wait, but if you want to lose it young then I don't see what's wrong with that. I think it's just important that you aren't pressured into losing or keeping it.
Slut shaming is pretty pathetic. What others do with their body doesn't affect you, so it shouldn't matter.

To each their own, I say. I don't like abstinence only education, because areas with that have a marked increase in teen pregnancy.

I don't really care for virginity, but understand those who value it. Slut shaming shaming is something I find highly offensive as I don't define people and their character based on their sex lives.

I don't understand the appeal of virginity. It's not something I consider to be worth anything. Of course, I'm a virgin, myself, but that's not exactly by choice...

Outside of religious reasons, abstinence has it's value in stopping unwanted pregnancy, and slowing the rate of STDs. But given that some semblance of common sense is all that's really necessary to stop, or drastically decrease the chance of, having those things happen, I see no value in Virginity. And besides that, my hedonistic outlook on life is opposite to the very idea of virginity.

I value my virginity and that is a personal choice. I think it has many benefits for waiting until engagement or marriage but I try not to judge. But I have a bad habit of placing my standards on others at times.
