No. Those with 'superior' traits tend to survive more to procreate. That's all.Arkhanic Assassins wrote: And that humans are the only species that can evolve into such complexity?
For the foreseeable future on this planet, yes.

You could also argue that some primates have something approaching a set of language.
Neanderthals may be like us, but why did they become extinct if they possess the same intelligence as us. And why didn't more species, like them, evolve like us .
And for the record, primates do not have language, only communication.

At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

I just can't imagine, that after billions of years, humans are the only beings that can wake up in the morning, brush their teeth, prepare toast and talk over the phone about how that new dress in Victoria's secret will match perfectly with the shoes for the prom night.

Why? Evolution is, in complex organisms, a relatively slow process IIRC.

Seriously. What part of "foreseeable future" don't you understand? Is your vocabulary lacking?

We extincted them.
It appears that Homo sapiens does not tolerate competition.
I said something approaching a language.

And primates are simple organisms? That's why they evolved into humans faster?
No, primates are complex organisms, which is why it took hundreds of millions of years for mammals to evolve, tens of millions of years for the far smaller order of primates to evolve from the class Mammalia, and millions of years for just one species of primate, us, to evolve from our common ancestor with other primates.
That is not "fast".

Well, language changes with the passage of time, it is arbitrary. It sure is taking a hell lot of time for those primates to set up the basics.

Then why not the other complex species, why only primates?

Thank you, you answered most of my questions. Now, why are primates the only species to evolve sentient intelligence?
