My point being that I am sure they have better things to be doing.

Yes, all available personnel are needed for the tasks at hand. All of the top brass need to be focused sitting on their thumbs waiting for something to happen in the Middle East.

I really don't think that this Navy spokesperson did have better thing to be doing than speaking for the Navy, actually.

It's called multi-tasking. The United States Navy has more than 300,000 active duty personnel. Surely they can spare one or two from the eternal fight against the enemies of our great nation to answer a simple question about Capt'n Crunch's uniform. Perhaps that person volunteered and answered the question while battling with her other hand. Come on, man, lighten up. You spend enough time in TET, I know you have a sense of humor.

Apparently most people do not believe the navy had a comment on this according to the poll.

No, 72 people on NSG voted that way. On NSG. Keep that in mind. NSG. Not the real world.

I've heard rumours that some firefighters have taken to fighting fires. Truly these are signs of the End of Days.

I would think that disparaging a captain like this is worthy of at least a charge of conduct unbecoming.

Correction: They can not believe the navy had a comment. Which implies that they find the fact that the navy made a statement utterly ridiculous.

Sadly, they're rather miseducated. Do you know how much more effective this could be for making people think of (and however briefly consider a career in) the USN than a handful of commercials, for a fraction of the price? The media's doing all the work for the Navy.
