There are people who are saying we should do want Man City did with Tevez and just sit him rotting in the reserves. THere are three things wrong with this.

One, City had a plethora of world class strikers to replace Tevez, we do not. Two, that impacts upon the development of our other players coming through from the reserves. Three, and probably the most important, that will drive his price down.

Then again he could go to Arsenal and really create havoc amongst the team...but yeah...generally speaking I'm really not in disagreement with you. Leave him in the reserves...not a good move for exactly the reason you state...but on the bench for the most part...after all 'pool did play better without him...but as a guy who can shutout a game...yeah he can do that as a sub alright.

There is no way I would spend forty million on him. That is just fucking stupid money.

It really is a lose-lose for Liverpool, isn't it? It's pretty clear that he's a real slimy guy who seems to have lost any sympathy Liverpool supporters may have had for him, so staying put might not be a real option. Arsenal keep persisting, but he has not been sold. That makes me think that Rodgers and Co. in the backroom are hoping that by drawing out affair they'll give time for a continental team to put in an offer. Selling to Arsenal is rough - he could very well be a leading factor in Arsenal getting the fourth spot again if he goes there. But would, say, 30-35mil pounds from Real Madrid or Valencia (to replace Soldado) or someone in Italy (Napoli?) be better? That would recoup the ~20mil Liverpool spent for him and make sure that he won't hurt them in the future. But it's missing out on the frankly absurd amount of money Arsenal could spend on him.

I'm glad it's not me that has to make that decision.

Strangely enough I always do the same thing before I run. But I'm in the same boat as you Serrland, I don't really play anymore but I ref all the time.

I think my "superstition" developed because one of my shoes slid off once. It was I think the second or third game after getting my Grade 8 certification. Thankfully I was just a linesman so I could, at a stoppage of play at the far end of the pitch, put it back on and tie it relatively discreetly, but boy would that be embarrassing if I was the main ref.

Yeah...he's gotta go abroad if Liverpool let him go...but who will they get it? Sturridge is ok but no way able to go through the entire season as their main striker...Suarez has really stitched up Liverpool well and truly.

I've had my score become untied multiple times on the pitch while reffing but never have really became bothered by it.

Now on the other hand, being tripped by a nine year old and slamming face first into the mud was a much more embarrassing event for me...

Yesterday's reports: "Suárez and his advisers are confident the clause in his contract requires Liverpool to accept bids over £40M for him and believe the PFA will back their case"

Today, Gordon Taylor, head of the PFA: "If there is a minimum offer of £40m then the parties will discuss things but it does not say the club has to sell. There is a 'good faith' clause in relation to serious discussions, but I can't say it is a cast-iron buy-out clause."

I've used this comparison elsewhere but it was like listening to drying paint give you stock options using data from 1929.

That's why he went to the papers, because he knew the PFA wouldn't back him.

This whole verbal agreement seems very silly, anyway. Why on earth would Rodgers and Ayre tell Suarez that he could leave if we got CL when it was highly unlikely in the first place? I know that Ayre isn't the brightest but he's not that off the ball.

Never been to Prenton, but I've seen them play us at the Reebok, and they don't exactly like us, though I can't really remember why.

It is a shrimp - there's a reason why Morecambe are called the Shrimpers.
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)
