3-1 against Salzburg. We played very well. One down, one to go, here we come Champions League. And once again I was proud of being a yellow canary when I heard the whole stadium was calling for the government to resign and shouting slogans related to the Gezi Park protests. :)

Anyone who thought he'd actually be staying is going to have fun reading that. I'm just upset we're selling him to Arsenal.

Modric, Bale and now Suarez. They keep falling for that 'sign this five year contract but we promise we'll let you go next year' routine.

Does anyone have any superstitions when they go out and play the game?

When I go on the pitch, I like to go over to the net and jump up to slap the crossbar. It sounds stupid, but I've always done that kind of thing, in a lot of different things, and it always helps.

I never warm up before a game wearing my shin pads or my shirt, which I leave in the centre circle and invariably the referee questions whose they are.

This has led to occasions when I have left my shirt in the changing room and had to run back for it.

I'd just stay and ask why the team didn't get the note about it being shirts versus skins :P

I may be able to top that mistake though. One time, I jumped up to hit the crossbar, and, because it was a little lower than I thought it was, I headbutted it.

Once, back in the Dark Times when I was a keeper, I used to bang my boots against the post to clear mud off of them.

One time I missed the post, got stuck in the net, fell forwards and landed on a peg. Luckily I didn't get cut but it was right on a rib.

There's only one thing I hate more than dogshit on a park pitch and that's an improperly fixed peg.

Meh, the stats from last season all suggest we play much better when Suárez hasn't started anyway.

Strangely enough I always do the same thing before I run. But I'm in the same boat as you Serrland, I don't really play anymore but I ref all the time.

I have several. As both a player and a manager.
Most notably the order I put my boots on, and my use of a specific whiteboard to give team instructions.

He scores great goals...but is also a bit of a liability given his loose canon tendencies. I would have him in my squad but not for forty million and certainly not on wages that are over a hundred grand a week. Besides his loose canon tendencies he does rather seem to think he is bigger than whichever football club he's playing for...so he would have to be managed very closely and very carefully.

Actually on reflection...I'm not really sure football needs "Bitey".

He's engineered or sulked his way out of every club he's played at. He sued Groningen, ffs.

But this smacks of desperation, and not a little cowardice. Wait until the club are out of the country on tour and then mouth off to the press. He's worried he won't be leaving.

Yeah pretty much. I wonder what his team mates think about all this...and especially Gerrard who pretty much vouched for him earlier last this week...and for Arsenal to bid for him...knowing that this is a player without an ounce of integrity...is also a hell of a shock...sure its all about winning blah blah blah and that when all is said and done its all about the goals...however...(and this is a bit of an about face for me) it is not about life and death...its a game saturated with money and assholes.

The only thing I'm upset about is the likelihood of us selling him to Arsenal. Sell him or don't sell him, I don't care - just not to a team we actually have the slightest chance of knocking out of the Top 4.

There are people who are saying we should do want Man City did with Tevez and just sit him rotting in the reserves. THere are three things wrong with this.

One, City had a plethora of world class strikers to replace Tevez, we do not. Two, that impacts upon the development of our other players coming through from the reserves. Three, and probably the most important, that will drive his price down.

Then again he could go to Arsenal and really create havoc amongst the team...but yeah...generally speaking I'm really not in disagreement with you. Leave him in the reserves...not a good move for exactly the reason you state...but on the bench for the most part...after all 'pool did play better without him...but as a guy who can shutout a game...yeah he can do that as a sub alright.

There is no way I would spend forty million on him. That is just fucking stupid money.

No whiteboard superstition, but I always make sure I'm the last one to leave the dressing room as a coach. It started out as worrying for them kids, I think, but now it became a bit of a habit.

I'm one of the resident stattos on my LFC forum and we were arguing about the team's bottle so I went away and knocked these up.
