Seriously, read the actual article. They were there, they had the resources to stop it, they literally would have barely spent any extra money or time by actually doing something, but someone assumed like you that people never have financial problems and are fully capable of paying for any service they need immediately and so a family watched the fire department do nothing and their house burn down.
That is the consequence of your position.
Actually, the family offed to pay the $75 on the spot, but the dispatcher said no, they were screwed for not having paid in advance.
I happen to remember when this made the news a while back…
