It's an idea he has for a fantasy book. Because he's going to base some of the characters on members of the Inquisition, he asked me to help him with that part of the research.

Yes that Bill Nye cat was, which is why I had to tag you to make sure you saw it. *nod*

Oh, nice. Not going to ask any more hints than that, that's the writer's secret. ;)

I'll prefer the scabbard if I may.

I was going to write that in there but, yeah. In fact, recently I was talking about this with someone I know IRL... I have no idea who now that I try to remember.

Now that this thread has devolved somewhat I think it's the perfect time to go for the night.

What were we talking about?

We were talking about how in America (which in explicably apparently has a reputation amongst Asians for valuing "fidelity" according to a guy I know) emphasizes repressive and puritan ideals that probably should've died with fucking Cromwell...

...until the next week when some top puritanesque pastor gets caught snorting PCP and Adivan out of the foreskin of a gay prostitute.

Sleep well. Maybe in your dreams, you'll see the Legend that the NSG community needs coming in out of the breaking dawn.

Well, I can't add anything to this perfect construct of the American Puritanical Society, not dissimilar to Alcoholic Anonymous, but less fun and with more repressed foreskin.

Not to worry, that would probably be the next step as I almost set myself on fire while down in Puerto Rico.

I honestly apologize for that last meditative exercise. I really thought peyote was a kind of pepper.

Yup.

It's just gotten so dumb and so antagonistic. I remember several posters from the past that I disagreed with on damn near everything, but I didn't dislike them, because we were still able to have respectful, thoughtful conversations like grown-ups. I'd still tell 'em they were totally wrong, and they'd say the same to me, but then we'd go wander off to a thread about your favorite hairstyles or what time period you'd want to visit if you had a time machine or what region makes the best barbecue and find we actually had things in common after all, even if they DID have dumb opinions about abortion or whatever. The dearth of those more light-hearted threads and the influx of people who seem to think "everybody who disagrees with me is just a STUPIDHEAD, SO THERE" constitutes "debate" has really messed this place up. :(

I've got a number of people like that still. Blouman Empire, Ralkovia, Distruzio, J&D Jafas United and Greater Malema from time gone past. I could go on.
