Back on the Jolt forums, particularly in the RP section, we had a way to ensure quality. New players who didn't meet community standards were flamed and trolled until they left. It was the highest quality RPing group to date on NS, but it was also the most ridiculously hostile, unpleasant and arguably the most disgusting part of NS's forum history. And I hope to Christ we never end up back at that stage although with the ever increasing prevalence (and tolerance) of snarky, borderline insulting posts, we're heading that way.

Perhaps a specific forum could be made that would be locked to the general public. To get on you'd have to have been on the forums for a certain time and be judged worthy (based on your post history) by a panel of members of that forum or mods or some OOC equivalent of the RP mentors.

Just an idea I came up with now, I don't know how it'd actually fare in reality.

Eh, I doubt that'd work. It kinda creates a selective bottleneck for new opinions that'll make NSG go extinct without any new topics.

Saying you want something and calling for something are pretty fucking similar. I'm sorry if that's not how it works and I was unaware.

I want world unity.

I want the UN to be armed and given the means to occupy every country of the world so as to bring it under the control of a world government.

Notice how they're different, wanting something doesn't mean advocating a specific means for pursuing it. No need to be exasperated.

It would probably end up with more middle class teenage white boys then it is already.

Your example makes sense.

I don't think it's 100% applicable to this argument, though. There are lots of ways to work towards world unity. However, in Indi's case, I can't see any way to create a sexism-free area on the forum without banning sexist opinions there.

Maybe I've missed something (I do that). Please do tell me if you can think of another way.

Yea um, I'm a straight female, & it doesn't really matter to me. Some males can seem to be pretty "girly" & some females can seem to be pretty "boyish" according to stereotypes in society. So, I don't think it would make a significant difference in discussions. Ever since elementary school I've noticed I usually get along with guys quite a bit more than females anywho. So, it doesn't really affect me here.

I think this might be part of the reason why it's so disproportionate. Not to be rude.

 I agree. These guys aren't examples of men, but examples of humans who are obnoxiously vulgar. A lot of people who are decent, including lots of women, don't like dealing with that. They may be lead to believe they represent the general "social circle" here.

Something's gotta be wrong when you've got threads like this appearing:
"Your leaders wife or girlfriend?"
I go under the name Vyvland now (IIWiki page). This account is used for the odd foray into the Senate or NSG.

Apparently gay men and straight women aren't allowed to be leaders.

Well, they can, but they have to remain celibate.

I am entirely willing to accept that the leader of my nation, Princess Twilight Sparkle, is as gay as the day is long.

Within the first 15 comments;

"not changing it because of political correctness"

How surprising.

More diversity would be a good thing on NS, I think.

Don't be deceived when our Revolution has finally been stamped out and they tell you things are better now even if there's no poverty to see, because the poverty's been hidden...even if you ever got more wages and could afford to buy more of these new and useless goods which these new industries foist on you, and even if it seems to you that "you never had so much" - that is only the slogan of those who have much more than you.

Have you ever been out in the real world? Quite unlike NSG, it's split roughly 50/50 between men and women.
